Buying a Lady DJ - bundling still a thing?

Hey everyone,

I haven’t really stayed too in tune with the market other than knowing it has gotten ever crazier over the past 3-4 years.

Back then, buying a lady’s watch, or actually even a less in demand men’s watch would put you in good position to get an in demand piece. Wondering if that is still the case, broadly?

I have my 10-year anniversary coming up and my wife has her eye on a 2-tone DJ… in my mind it’s not a super desirable piece. Wondering what others are seeing in terms of AD’s willingness to bundle. Just want to set my expectations before I approach my AD. Thanks!

Ya, I know the best thing to do is to get out there and ask my AD. I just wanted to have an idea before I start the convo.

I do have an AD right near me (not my usual AD that I have a relationship with) that I stopped by at on the way home from work today. They have always seemed to not care about my business one way or another… back in 2018 I was shopping for a Platinum day-date, which was readily available in AD showcases at the time. They offered me nothing but the watch, while other ADs were willing to throw in GMT’s, subs etc.

Anyways, this AD said they would take my info and it could be up to a year … for a 2-tone lady DJ. I laughed and left, guess they still don’t want my business.

Forget about that AD and stick with the original one you have. I would definitely ask for a piece for myself if I were getting my wife a watch. They may not bundle directly with your wife’s but should come through eventually.

Are you sure she wants a 28 mm watch? That’s really small. Wouldn’t a 31, or even larger size, be better? Up to her, of course. Take your wife to your AD, and let her try some watches on. While there, ask your SA about bundling….

Ahhhh, thanks a lot for this. I mixed up the nomenclature. I actually meant a Datejust for a lady I guess. I didn't realize the "Lady DJ" is a specific watch . So yes, I will take her to the AD. But I actually was looking at the 2-tone 31mm or 36mm, whichever fits her better. Probably 31mm as she has a smaller wrist.

I'm in the same boat! I just put my wife on my list last month for a TT DJ 31mm.

After her watch comes in, I'm hoping it will help me get a watch a little faster. I just added the 126500 to the list, I'll probably get it by the time the next reference comes out LOL

Speaking for myself I would not entertain any sort of bundle for any watch, and if any AD proposed a bundle I would politely tell him the second word is off. And if all protentional Rolex watch buyers done the same, then perhaps we could get rid of all AD relationship stuff and so called AD games.
