A Weird Pair Of Timepieces Coming Soon Thx To WatchBox
First, gotta give thanks to Bill Comfort @ WatchBox as it was a pleasure to work with him on this two-timepiece deal.
HINT: One is for my Muse / wife to makeup for my stupidly letting go of the PP 5110 AD Wall Clock many years ago. When we're at timepiece stores she always, always seems to gravitate towards WorldTime timepieces. HINT 2: For me, well, ummm... i actually already have it (yet in a different color). It is a simple piece that 'only' tells the time. HINT 3: Neither have a seconds hand. HINT 4: Each uses a pretty 'basic' movement. Nothing overly fancy at all movement-wise, actually. Any guesses? Hopefully wrist shots tomorrow.

HINT 5: Both have 'partially' blue 'dialS'.

Heeeere we go! :)
Ok, gotta admit i kinda sorta half-lied. Yes the movements, while pretty standard stuff, have been modded a bit. Montblanc wisely integrated (not module) their mods and the dialSSSSS are stunning in their appearance and in the way they move. While it's no longer produced, this WorldTimer is a heck of a bargain imho within the secondary market. Muse and i have seen many, MANY worldtimers and this one, i feeel, is one heck of a value and absolutely gorgeous to boot! Price aside, it looks stunning in person! Not as visually thick as seen in the recent WatchBox video. Thankfully, the top bezel greatly protects the edge/side top crystal, which helps make it far less likely to be side-swipe chipped. The butterfly clasp strap crimping system makes it very safe too. No real need to discuss the M.A.D.1 Blue. Ok, yes, it goes well with the red and yes both straps are aftermarket. Imho the Blue is easier to wind and set due to the crown style difference. The blue strap has been just sitting here for about a year+... waiting... for this moment. Plus now i can FINALLY write that funny horology article i've been tinkering with on and off for about a year PS: Thanks again to WatchBox. Oh my, they even sent a hat and a watch box gratis. Hmm, a WatchBox watch box. A bit too 'on-the-nose' if you ask me, like calling a Coney Island old-school gamer place "Games Games Games" (if you know what i mean in this Fun Society :) ). . . . Here's a vid of the actual Montblanc timepiece. Hi, I'm Tim, and thank you for.... Be sure to see how the 'trick' dialSSSS work, it's a multi-layer fun-fest .

Wow! Nice pickup. The Montblanc is awesome, not something you see everyday.

A most humble thanks. Wife loves the Montblanc and in a few more weeks her custom handcrafted strap will be here.
Bel Canto... (deep sigh) has been delayed... and look fwd to the purple dial version hopefully in a few more months' time.

I was so confused for a while as I thought you were getting only one watch. And you also updated your avatar. |

Fantastic pieces!!
The MAD watches are extremely interesting for me - they are just quirky enough that I would love to own one. The Montblanc is a work of art! PDG |

This was a fun read, Steven, and congrats! Also, I noticed the Nam Hing springbar tool. I got one a few months ago but haven't had occasion to use it yet. I hope it's all that everyone says it is!

Dynamic duo, congratulations!
I know you like the MAD watch a lot What motivated you to also add the blue version? I wouldn’t be able to choose between the two myself. |
