Watches with tons of stones or none FOR MEN?

I'd like to know are you into them? Factory-set only, or none period?

There are some gem set Rolexes I enjoy. Submariner SABR and Day Date 36 RBR, for example.

Very few other brands making gem set watches that I find attractive.

The only stones I want on a watch is a Plat DD 40 with ice blue dial and baguettes as I find they almost blend in with that dial.
Otherwise I personally don't care for stones on a watch but nothing wrong with those who enjoy them.
Also I would only want any watch with factory diamonds. I find the vast majority done aftermarket look like crap when up close.

No Stones of any kind please, unless it's a meteorite dial on a WG daytona, then yes please!

These are hard to pull off tastefully. Rainbow Daytona is a winner. So is DD40 with baguette indices.

I can’t see any association between tasteful and a Rainbow Daytona!

Have you seen them in person? Many people who hate them change their minds after seeing them.

I had a 16233 diamond baguette watch with a two-tone dial and bracelet. And although I liked this dial at the time, I later found this look too flashy and later considered it more or less a feminine look, so I sold it. For this reason, while I can completly understand if someone likes these layouts, I wouldn't buy one for myself right now.

I can accept factory-set sapphires like this one below.

agree with this sentiment.

I'd love to have stones if they were factory set and done tastefully

The only stones men should have are kidney stones.

Preferably from too much alcohol and not enough water.

None for me. I can respect the art, but not a look I’m going for.

Generally no. Unless done in a subtle manner, like the PP 5396R or PP 5170P.

I’d be willing to bet that most here would say no. But offer the naysayers a RBOW or anything from a high maision with factory settings and doubt anyone would refuse. The only thing that is not pleasant about gemset watches is the price.

Thanks to all that responded.

I'm surprised (in a good way) by the results. I didn't expect that many to say factory-set is fine.

Only on rarest of occasions is diamond okay and even the it should be limited to hour markers. I can’t take anyone seriously with a rainbow watch of any kind

I’d say factory only and even factory they have to be more subtle like baguette hour markers. Great thing about watches though is you get to decide what you like and don’t care what anybody else thinks

Patek does good looking rectangular diamond markers but outside of that, no.

Ok exception noted.

For me, maybe a tiny one on the case at the 6 o’clock position.

Super tough to argue with that picture. Looks incredible.

I like them on a few Rolex models and Patek does them very nicely at times on men’s watches. I’m a fan if they are somewhat subtle, which is somewhat subjective.

If you like it (wearing it / even admiring it), no reason not to enjoy them.
