White stripe on watch band

I bought a watch band for approximately $200 from Hiroshoge Japan. There is a white streak in the middle of one side of the band. They advise that this is patina on a distressed leather band and a normal feature. I think it appears to be a defect. Thoughts?

Tough to say. Do we know what kind of leather this is? It does look like”pull up” but it should sort of disappear if you flex it the opposite way (if that makes sense).

Nature generally never 'creates' in perfectly straight lines.

A combination of calf leather and deer leather. Feel free to look at their site for a detailed description. Their example picture doesn’t have a white stripe.

Seems to be part of the design if you take a look at the website - https://hiroshigejapan.com/products/...41143429496884 - all their example ones not just your design show a slightly lighter colour down the middle

I’m not really seeing it in their pictures.

To me, it’s not attractive.

I bet a little leather conditioner would clear that up
BUT
Personally I would just return it for a refund and look elsewhere.
If they won't take returns or the cost is high to ship etc Id just try some leather conditioner and hope for the best.
Buying overseas is hit or miss, sometimes customs are a pain, sometimes returns are a pain and sometimes the shipping costs make it a PITA

100% correct. The seller showed no remorse or admission of a problem. I will try leather conditioner. I thought of applying oil, but your suggestion is better.

I tried two applications of leather conditioner, no improvement. I do think it is a defect, not a feature. I did read their website again. I don’t think it should look like this. I have a Tudor Black Bay with a distressed leather strap. It doesn’t look like this strap.

I am just going to hold it. Not worth shipping to Asia. Will not order straps from this merchant in the future. It is a downside of ordering from overseas.
