The VC Cornes de Vache incoming years in the making
"If you love something, let it go".
Let me tell you a story of the 3 mistakes of my life. Ever since I began my watch collecting journey, I dreamt of owning a Vacheron Constantin one day. To me it was high horology at its finest, and the art of watchmaking manifested into poetry in harmonious motion. Then one day, the Cornes De Vache was released onto the world, and I stopped in dead my tracks. As a lover of classic proportions and aesthetics of mid-century watchmaking, this was the pinnacle of design and elegance. It was a grail, a dream, and the most beautiful watch I'd ever seen. The Cornes de Vache was then released in stainless steel, and I said this is it, I had to do it. So I finally made it happen this year. The watch grail was on my wrist, and all was right with the world, or so I thought. As often happens to watch collectors, one falls out of love after the honeymoon phase, where you find yourself wearing a timepiece less and less, and you can't quite get a read on why. Its real, it just happens, until you finally decide to let it go to greener pastures. It made me distraught that the watch of my dreams didn't enthrall me as I'd hoped, and I found myself Cornes de Vache-less again. In the days and months since, I kept wondering and questioning myself, if I had made the right decision to let it go, and if I should have just given it more time. But sometimes you just know that something isn't quite working, so I convinced myself that it was the right decision to let go of a timepiece I didn't find myself wearing. As often happens in real life, one gets reminded of memories and objects with the slightest stimulus. The human brain is the most complex mechanism that we don't yet know of. As I found myself browsing Google Photos for a completely unrelated reason, I chanced upon a wristshot of my Cornes de Vache from a few months ago, and let's just say there was emotion involved. I longed for it, and yet I realized that I didn't love it when I had it. How do I resolve this paradox? And then it dawned on me. The watch that I had fallen in love with all those years ago, was a different metal, a different dial, and different aesthetics altogether. That was what made my heart swoon. So I now tell you the 3 mistakes that I made as a watch collector: -Never compromise. Don't do it. Get what you really want. -Understand the real reason you're attracted towards a watch. You look at it all the time, sometimes it really is all about aesthetics. -Letting a watch go and buying it again in a different metal is a lot of time and money wasted. See mistake No.1. And with that, I present to you the Vacheron Constantin Cornes de Vache in rose gold. The watch that I fell in love with all those years ago. Dear Vacheron, how I've missed you. All is right again with the world. A special thank you to the Zurich boutique for reuniting us again with such short notice. Your customer service is truly world-class! |

Congrats, such a beautiful piece. In my opinion one of the best from VC alongside the 1921.

Congratulations! It is a heckuva watch.
I've been wanting to play with one in the flesh before requesting one, but they don't come across my boutique very often. I remember finally getting some alone time with one after asking the NA president of VC at some function if he would mind taking it off so I could examine it lol. |

The classic look, the scarab ears, the history of Vacheron - all this combined together gives an amazing image of this watch.
Congratulations on your successful return!

Congrats and I agree that the RG is the one to go for. The SS is so underwhelming in person and it just doesn’t pop. But the RG? that is a thing of beauty. Cogratulations.

Great watch. I prefer the stainless steel, but it’s the dial that steals the show. So balanced and beautiful.

Such a beautiful watch! Possibly, the best looking VC! Congrats! And your mistake #1 applies to many things in life. I find as collectors, we all go through those lessons. It is a part of a journey!
