OP celebration dial rarity

I have never seen a wrist shot on my local forums (Australia). I understand they are super rare here but is it the same for rest of the world?

Thanks!

Wifey had had this for about 2 weeks now. 31mm size. In the UK they are quite scarce. Greys are charging upwards of 14K for one.

Well no Rolex watch is rare some made in smaller numbers and dial depends on what Joe public likes speaking for myself not a fan.But today hype sells watches as many buy the hype to wear it,but whatever floats your boat.

They're just starting to roll out. I think it'll be similar to the "Tiffany" blue OP that was way overhyped.

Objectively speaking, if something is made in smaller numbers and desired it is, by definition, rare. How low of numbers meets this criteria is less clear - is it 10,000 units, 1,000 units, 100 units etc.

You know, the more I look at this dial, the less of a 'celebration' it seems.

Looks to me the balloons have lost their air and have dropped down to the floor.

Operative word, 'and'. The Dominos watch comes to mind...

I don’t see it as a daily wear watch, but more of a special occasion watch.
Recently had a chance to get a 31mm for the wife, but she declined. She has another model on her radar right now, so I’ll focus on it.

I love the watch. It doesn't seem like I have any chance of being allocated the watches that I currently want though.

Ewww. The only nice thing about the dial is that it’s limited IMO. Otherwise there would be almost no interest in it.

rare:
Infrequently occurring; uncommon. Excellent; extraordinary.

Here in Sweden, they are tremendously rare. I expect never to see one in the wild.

My wife got her 31mm for our WA on the 6th Aug, A very good friend was offered the 41mm ,called me and asked should he buy it , I said even if you don’t wear it,it makes sense due to the market and how it priced then swap it for something you would have chosen.

Anecdotally more 31s out there than 36 and 41?

Definitely favourite recent release and hope to see more in the wild

They’re extremely rare and only allocated to the extreme VIP clients.

Saw a 31mm and 36mm in the AD a few weeks back as they had just arrived and were waiting to be collected (not by me as I’m not on the list). Not my thing but I can see people that like something a bit different going for them.

Well for me in the watch world of being rare, 50 or less ever being made but doubt if that word rare will ever be associated with any Rolex watch.

I wouldnt class myself as one of those. I have a good relationship with my AD but my spend level isnt anything like many on here. Theres some whose one watch is easily more than my total spend.
I guess we were lucky.

That is indeed rare. Myself, I’d probably call total all-time production under 5,000 rare, under 100-200 unicorns. Anything more is either uncommon/limited or simply hard to obtain due to high demand.

Might depend on the AD. My AD had a 36mm and 41mm. I received the call for the 41mm. I'm not even close to being considered extreme VIP

I also wonder about the rarity and the demand for the celebration dial and if it will be offered to me for purchase. I believe that my AD knows I am a serious collector with no desire to sell my watches. I plan on scheduling a meeting to inquire if one is for sale. I have a hope and maybe it is false that the celebration dials will only be offered to vetted Rolex buyers who the sales folk know have absolutely no intention of selling it. Does anyone else think this way or am I just getting my hopes up? I really want this watch.

My AD has had at least 2 in this year. A 31mm went to a very old client of theirs and a 41mm to a more recent client without much spend history at all. I am hoping my Mrs gets a call for the 36mm (apparently the most requested size)..... not holding by breath.

I personally wouldn't wear this watch. IMHO, it's a fun piece for the ladies.

OP celebration dial rarity

Wife picked her 31mm OP celebration dial up from our AD on Tuesday evening. The AD was great and made a balloon display in the cabinet with her watch in the middle of them. My good lady had literally no idea it was hers, wasn't expecting it at all as it had been something my SA had arranged on my behalf. I believe certain chains have to obtain regional approval to offer these to clients. Based on that, I would say they are quite scarce at the moment. Great watch in the flesh, way better than pictures, however can understand why some people dislike it. The watches pictured are both hers of course, just for comparison against a date just 31mm.
