FS: Grand Seiko SBGR321 - Limited Edition of 2500

Hello folks! I am very excited to share another absolute banger of a watch for sale – the stunning Grand Seiko SBGR321 which was designed in 2020 to celebrate Grand Seiko’s 60th anniversary or Kanreki (“rebirth”). Inspired by the blue sky at dawn over Mt. Iwate near Studio Shizukuishi, the site where Grand Seiko’s watchmakers produce all of their mechanical timepieces, it was produced in a limited run of 2,500 pieces. This one is a sub-200 numbered example.

At 40mm x 46.6mm lug to lug x 13mm thick, the contemporary GS case wears incredibly on anyone’s wrist. More from a GS Club article about this watch:
“The vibrant blue of the dial is the perfect base for the faceted indexes, which have an appealing visual weight here and contrast perfectly against the blue. Grand Seiko’s iconic handset is here, too, and the hands feature a hairline-brushed top surface so as not to get lost against the darker dial. As always, legibility is monumental here. To evoke sunrise over a blue sky, the tip of the second hand is rendered in red.
There is an exhibition case back that makes visible the excellent Caliber 9S65, rated to +5/-3 seconds per day with a power reserve of 72 hours. The movement receives a special treatment here. The oscillating weight is made of crystallized titanium and tungsten, and the beautiful blue finish is achieved through an electrochemical process called anodic oxidation, which creates a colored film on the metal (it is possible to create different colors by varying the thickness of the oxide film). Aesthetics aside, the titanium disc also contributes to the shock resistance of the watch, and the tungsten weight produces the necessary inertia for effectively winding the watch.”

Condition wise I would put this watch at 97% or near mint. There are no noticeable dings, nicks or large swirls or scratches in the case or bracelet. The bracelet is near mint with only 1 faint trace of desk diving marks on one or two links. There are some very, very minor hairline swirls in some of the Zaratsu polished bezel surfaces but these are only visible under very harsh, angled lighting. This watch is stunning and it was clearly worn very carefully and rarely by its previous owner. The movement appears to be running within specifications (your mileage may vary based on wear habits, mainspring wind at the time of measurement, etc.) and functioning with no issues. Service history is unknown but per the warranty card (original owner’s name was cut out) it was sold in November of 2020.

The sale will include the outer and inner boxes, all paperwork, manuals, and original warranty card (valid in Japan only).
