Possible DD40 YG green dial roman

Dear All, my local AD is receiving a day date 40mm yellow gold with the lacquer (flat) green dial with roman numerals in a week or two. It is currently earmarked for a customer that is specifically requested this watch and is first on their wait list for it.

If that person rejects it for some reason, then the option to buy will likely be given to me next. I am not very familiar with the DD line, but I thought it might be a nice capstone to retiring my business after 32 years.

My question is how difficult is this watch to get in general? According to the AD, they have not seen this config yet. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get later if I pass it up.

Do 40mm YG hold usually their value with/without the green dial?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That’s one of the more difficult DDs to acquire from an AD. And also a beautiful DD. Very loud though, much louder than its RG/Olive cousin.

No comment on future value.

I'm with you on that.

I just want to be prepared in case he changed his mind for whatever reason or possibly already bought a DD elsewhere.

A couple of weeks ago I almost went to grey for this similar configuration, RG on solid green. But price was too solid (around USD 50k), so I gave up.

If you can get it from AD, go for it.

Mind you though, I have seen it in person, it's loud but not shining. RG has some sort of subdued tone.
YG on olive green is much more shining, and more desirable.

If it’s one you asked for, I’d buy it regardless of what it might be worth later on

There seems to be interest in this combo with its Rolex color scheme. I would only get it if you really want it. Green can get old quick if it's your only watch. There are lots of dials/metals to choose from and if this is a one and only DD, get the one you want not just the one coming in. If you are asking about value retention, many people think all the DDs will sell below retail used at some point (as they traditionally have.)

Thank you all for the kind and swift replies.

The AD will call me when it's in, so I can see it in person. Then they send it out to their their other store for the waiting customer.

For those who have DD, is the lack of micro adjustment on the presidential bracelet an issue for fitting. Just the 2mm micro adjust on my Daytona makes a noticeable difference in wear comfort. I'm wondering if no DD micro will make the watch too loose or too tight.

The band can be tricky sizing wise but it's super comfortable

Possible DD40 YG green dial roman

The lacquer dial is a stunner…it is truly classic Rolex green. Looks like the modern re-release of the Stella dial…and given its rather limited release that was Rolex’s intention, in my opinion.

It's a beautiful watch, it's on my list along with the silver dial which I believe will be the one I'll end up seeing as it's more realistic. My AD had said the same thing that they've yet to see the green lacquer dial DD40 yet so it's definitely one of the harder ones to acquire... If you get the opportunity jump on it! Cheers!

Any DD is the bomb!

My guess the other guy will buy it.

DD are the best watches to wear and admire.

Hour but probably not.

Green might get tired, well, not a DD/Rolex. Ute here to stay classica

Love my 3 DD’s My olive DD Ivdivtcwearcas much as prefer color gold rose or yellow. But it’s beautiful, and heavy too, the best part

DD are beautiful watches.

When am truly old/retired , I will help one DD, my vintage santos and panther watches.

The AD advised the DD ended up being a rose gold olive green dial and not yellow gold lacquered green dial, so it went out straight to the customer.

The AD was celebrating Ladies Night last Thursday and my wife saw this pictured DD, which had just arrived to the AD that same day.

She and I went to go see it on Saturday morning and I simply fell in love with it. My wife bought it for me and this watch is now my official retirement gift that she will present to me next month.

It feels very surreal, as I never imagined actually owning a Rolex President.

It’s my favorite DD configuration, that’s why when I was offered the watch from my ad I jumped. I doubt guy that asked for it will pass but if he does you should jump.

Yes, it all started with the very remote possibility of DD with the green dial that was earmarked for another customer. Before that, I had never actually considered a DD because I thought it was out of reach cost wise plus I primarily gravitate towards sports and utility watches.

I spent time researching a TT DJ41 and also contemplated about getting listed for a SS GMT Pepsi on jubilee. Nothing firm though.

But once I went to the AD and saw the DD (that my wife put on hold) and several DJs in person, I could not resist the DD. The sunburst silver dial on called to me and I found it to be warm and sophisticated without being too ostentatious or out there. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the final decision. Plus, it was my wife who pushed for it. That makes it all the more special to me, as I would not have liked made that decision myself.

A heck of a lot better than having to justify it to her. Love it
