Cool watch, but that's a pretty penny.

If it was an RM, it would be $350,000. So there's that.

Congrats to Ming

I was able to see this watch yesterday a small MING event, and it was incredible. Also slightly disturbing to hold a watch, see it 'ticking', but feel almost nothing. The head of the watch (minus strap/buckle) does in fact weigh only 8.8g... which is lighter than two sheets of A4 paper.

Congrats to Ming
Is this Ming lighter than the RM thin Ferrari watch? That’s what came to mind when I read the Ming advertisement. It probably is, but will need to check.
Honestly, aside from a technical achievement I guess, I’m still not sure why it carries such a premium…many watches aren’t that heavy to begin with. Maybe I missed the point.

Edit: The RM Ferrari is 30g, so much heavier actually.

Cool accomplishment just not for me at all I hate the feeling of a super light watch.

Exactly. I admire the result, but I think that even if you don't take the price into account, this watch is not for me. However, I will add that this watch is finally something completely new and exciting! In addition, IMO it also shows how much innovation, ideas and development are lacking in the world of traditional premium and luxury watch brands. Perhaps the worst thing is that the design is mostly stuck at the level of the last century.

Even if it were not good for anything else, the existence of Ming would be a very good example to illustrate this, who puts the same functions on a completely new basis and associates them with new modern feelings.

The RM Ferrari thin is not fully self-contained, you need an external piece to set the time and wind it. You need to add the weight for that part as well. Imho the RM Ferrarri is disqualified for breaking the FIA rules for not being a fully self-contained timepiece

Wait, so it is 30 grams and yet RM could not even self-contain the winding mech? Tsk tsk tsk.

At a bit less than 12 grams, Ming has a self-winder. :)
