PAM after a 10+ year hiatus. PAM 919 Seoul Boutique edition
I had the base logo PAM over 10 years ago. While I loved the look, I ended up selling it within a year because it felt like a tank on my wrist (6.75 inches) and it got uncomfortable when wearing it all day.
But I have always loved the distinct look of Panerais and started seriously thinking about getting one again the last couple of years. Then a few days ago, I came across one that was listed on a popular resale app here in Korea. After a few back and forths, I ended up acquiring it in a trade for a Zenith that I acquired in another trade last week. This Panerai is PAM 919 Seoul Boutique edition. It was released in 2018 and was limited to 50 pieces. It's basically the 564 with an engraved case back and the famous (or infamous) pig dial. If you are familiar with boutique editions, the case back is usually engraved with a landmark/monument that is of significance for the boutique's location. For the Seoul edition, the engraving is of the "Turtle Ship" which has historical importance in Korean history. Because the case is titanium, the weight on my wrist feels similar to when I have a g-shock on. And because the movement is manual, it is relatively thin for a Panerai. I've been wearing this non-stop for over 24 hours now (even slept with it on) and there has not been a hint of discomfort. I think this one will be a keeper for a while (unlike my first PAM 10+ yrs ago). Also as an added bonus, the previous owner also threw 6 additional straps (1 OEM and 5 aftermarket), which will satiate my strap swapping addiction! And here's the pics. Went with the tobacco strap. Welcome back…I too had a hiatus from Panerai until last year. If you owned one and moved on, it’s a watch that was always in the back of my mind. It’s so distinct and simple.
Congrats, looks great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You can leave, but you can't stay gone! Panerai is the most addicting brand for me. Welcome back, glad you found your way from the darkness.

Looks like all the other would take additions over the last 12 years. Each one with a different case, back design, referencing the city.

This is a really cool piece. Will be interesting to see how many cities they make.

Congrats! Love the titanium lightness. I too went Pam-less for about 8 years, now I’m back. Luckily I kept several straps from those years but sadly sold a few I can’t get back. This one looks great on you bud.

I love this one. Always liked the London addition. Waiting for one to pop up somewhere.

Congratulations, David
The color of the titanium case is also a particularly cool feature. But why is the dial referred to as the “pig” dial? I hadn’t heard that term before. |

"Pig" is the direct translation of maiale. The nickname of the human torpedo used by the Italien Navy in WWII.
You can see the topredo with the frogmen on the dial. |

That is a so nice, I’ve been more and more drawn towards Panerai lately too. With the smaller offerings they are appealing to more buyers without, imo, losing any core design appeal.
