Very nice and some great history I’m guessing attached to the watch

Looks like initially it possibly was a gift, based on his wife being on the paper
Very cool

Did he wear it on the sidelines for any of his Superbowl appearances?

No. His second Super Bowl was in ‘78. Looks like the watch was purchased in ‘79.

Maybe it’s a bad luck watch.… he lost in 79

Almost as interesting as the watch is the stuff that comes with it. A coat, tie and hat he wore in a game. Autographed football. Picture of Landry and a bunch of Cowboys QBs autographed by all of them. I’d be all over this if I was a hardcore Cowboys fan.

Note: I hate the Cowboys.

Story goes something like she (Mrs. Landry) Took a job to be able to pay for it thinking it would mean more to him rather than simpling putting the purchase on his credit card. Not sure what the job was, lol.

Gotta be honest, you can buy this watch for like 13K ... I guess you'd have to have a pretty significant attachment to the guy to pay the estimated price.

Lots of other memorabilia included that I am sure is worth a decent amount of money. But this is obviously for a cowboys fan.

The Nicklaus watch went for $1m before buyer's premium. That was a bigger name, and benefitted charity, but still wonder about the accuracy of the auction estimate. There’s a lot of Cowboy fan oil money in TX.

A “game worn Fedora.” lol. Never thought I’d see that phrase in my lifetime.

Coach Tom Landry's 18038 up for Auction on Dec 7th

There was an “administrative problem” with the high bid.

I don’t know if that means the bidder couldn’t consummate the transaction, was a shill, or what.

They’re going back to the previous high bidders before the final hammer fell at $70k. There was talk of re-opening the lot, but management decided against that approach, I guess.
