Christmas Eve and finally got the call!!!!

So after asking for e SS SkyD in blue dial or green for over a year ago, an ADs number popped on caller ID. I quickly answer and she says, well today is your lucky day. As I’m starting to foam from the mouth, i ask is it the blue or green dial? She then replies neither…. I got you a white gold on Oyster flex. NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I politely declined……

She got you nothing and she knows it!
They were hoping you were desperate, cause ADs and grey dealers have a hard time moving regular stainless steel Skydwellers for $16k, let alone white gold Skydwellers on oyster foex for $43k.
You should have told her the call was an insult.

Ugh, what a disappointment. I feel for you.

I have nothing against a SKyD on OF but you didn’t ask for it. Those SkyDs on OF must be moving slow. I have had multiple ADs offer them to me unsolicited on my part.

I completely disagree with you on ADs having a hard time moving SS SkyDs. Those fly out.

Seems harsh.
Tell her she was insulting would surely get him off the list for anything ever at that store. No need to get pissy

What would have been her next move if you hadn't asked? Getting you out on Christmas Eve, she lifts the cloth covering the watch, and says, "Surprise, you're here now, might as well buy the watch you didn’t ask for."

ADs will maintain the perception that you are privileged to be allowed to buy for as long as possible. Imagine the change if they put it in the store window to wait for a buyer.

Did she really say "today's your lucky day?"

Totally different watch. Stay patient and stay polite. Hope you get yours soon.

A bit disappointing I’d say being offered something you didn’t want especially when you have waited patiently for the call

In one hundred years, nothing has changed except the names:

1922: "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black."
2023: "Any customer can have a dial in any color that he wants so long as it is in stock."

Harsh ? Well...how can you call a day lucky which basically consists in
a) offering a dial colour which is quite the opposite of what you’ve been asking for and
b) for a HUGE amount over the SD ss list price
That’s utterly ridiculous.

Up the Irons! (that one’s for you Wrathchild)

Nice that you got the call! Awesome in fact! Too bad it wasn’t what you wanted. Hats off to you for not falling for the fomo and sticking to what you wanted!

I bet calling customers on Christmas Eve with off choice offerings is a common sales tactic for them knowing that we all might be a little trigger happy on this day believing/telling ourselves it's a Christmas so why not. Glad you didn't fall for that one.

If you don’t have a relationship or purchase history at that AD, you aren’t getting the blue or green dial no matter how long you asked for it.

You made a good choice and not take it. Big difference between the one that was offered and what you’re looking for.

The white gold Oysterflex is stunning on the wrist. Hate it in pictures but in real life it’s one of the best.

Best of luck for your desired SS. It will happen eventually

You should have told her the call was an insult.

Why is it an insult? She has a watch available to sell. Someone else probably requested it and then backed out. She then did her job and tried to sell it to someone else. She called people that previously expressed an interest in a SkyDweller.

There is nothing to get upset about. If he didn’t want the watch, that’s fine. All you have to do in that situation is politely decline and reiterate what you really want.

It’s no big deal. Honestly, some of you act as if she committed some sort of heinous crime. But she’s just doing her job.

Exactly. Though I can also understand not being tickled with the sales tactics. I have a local AD I know well and every time I visit I have to brace myself for their saccharine sweet, over the top sales scripts. Also have to put up with their purposeless, random texts throughout the year asking me “what’s up?” The first few times it happened, I thought an allocation piece was coming in. Now I know they’re just spamming by text. My guess is they have to fill a certain quota of initiated contact with certain types of spenders. I always stay polite, but inwardly I’m rolling my eyes.
