Anybody else notice...

the asymmetry of Pateks being sold in the For Sale forum for $40,000 to $70,000, with only iPhone photos attached? At best, it's slightly amusing, at worst it seems pretty dubious.

Any legitimate excuse for a seller of expensive watches to not at least use the Macro function on a crappy point and shoot camera? It's like trying to sell a million dollar house, but leaving dirty underwear strewn during the Open House.

You do realize the guy listing those PPs is the same one who sold Steve (Lol-x) his vintage Explorer II right? The guy is totally legit.

The guy you are referring to is John E. Brozek, publisher of "The Rolex Report."

Lol!!! The iPhone camera is still not quite as good as a legit point and shoot with macro setting. Especially in low light conditions.

The seller that the OP is referring to is completely legitimate and one of the few true rolex experts, IMO.

Oh okay, then it's slightly amusing as opposed to dubious - thanks.

I have this really great watch to sell, it's usually $75,000, but I've got it available for only $70,000. Here's a really grainy photo of it on a camera that happened to come with my phone. Call with any questions!

Sometimes you just want to get them up and on the table. If I'm not home and wanted to sell something I would do that. I am going to list a few items on eBay here soon, but I loaned my cameras to my parents for their vacation. While my iPhone can take good pics, I am going to hold off until then. But I do see your point. However, the bottom line is to buy the seller, and in this case the seller is tops, IMO.

Gotta be priced in the $40,000 to $70,000 range as well.

iphone picture of the check is fine too, but I prefer etch-a-sketch.

I see your point however - for me - If I knew I was buying a watch from John - I would buy it from him simply on his description. I wouldn't even need a photo.

+1

John Brozek can sell based on reputation alone. You won't get e-screwed!
