Which Do You Think Is A Better Watch?
Rolex Daytona or Omega Speedmaster? Without concern for price and/or rarity.

A fair comparison would be against the black dial SS Daytona. I would say that the speedmaster is better because it's much more legible, and the open caseback is beautiful.
That being said, watches are emotional items, and association is a big part, whether speedy to NASA or Daytona to LeMans. And then, on top of that, the brand Rolex vs. Omega and the price and perceived challenge both financially and status required, the Daytona makes you feel a bit more special. The Daytona, for its robustness, history/heritage and the way it feels on the wrist.

Which Do You Think Is A Better Watch?
Having owned several Speedmasters, in the past, I love the Speedy. It’s much more legible, less expensive, has been to the moon, etc. There was a time, when I collected brand new Omegas, exclusively. Now I prefer Rolex, but would rather have a Snoopy Speedy, than a SS Daytona.

Whats better is that persons eyes,, myself not a fan of the modern Daytona in any form, great movement yes but over hyped for what it is.So if I had to choose a chronograph watch it would be the Speedmaster, not because its better though, and neither watches are rare both mass produced and many many thousands of each in this world today..

Tough one;
I love my Speedmaster but the bracelet on the Daytona is better by miles. For me it’s the Speedy if I can only have one because I like the bigger case size being a bigger guy. I have a Speedmaster Moonphase and I’d take it over any SS Daytona if I could only have one (MSRP’s are about the same; market pricing obviously not). All that said I do think there’s a place in the collection for both as mentioned above the Daytona’s racing history can’t be ignored and if money were no object I’d have a Daytona (preferably a platinum with baguettes) in the watch box too.

The one which you prefer and for me it’s the Daytona period. My overall favorite reference Rolex makes.

Speedmaster works better for me - looks, size, clarity, functionality, history.

The Ed White is the right answer
Especially market price to market price; IMO this stomps an SS Daytona Platona vs Canopus or platinum 321 though? That battle goes the other way for sure.

Which Do You Think Is A Better Watch?
Ed White 321 is a higher quality watch than the Daytona. This can be seen and felt in person. I do not feel this way about the 3861 speedy though due to differences in dial construction, bezel, finishes and movement. Anyone that thinks Daytona is more robust because Rolex should refer to the NASA test trials. 321 is a robust movement. The Lemania 2310 base is legendary.

I have always liked the Daytona and have owned them all, from a Platinum with diamond markers to RG, WG, YG, TT and several SS both ceramic and metal bezels. Taking into account my most important factor, wearability and visibility, it is the Speedmaster that wins for me. The Daytona is the most hyped watch from Rolex and has a lot of history but does not do it in the same way as the Speedmaster. This is not a put down of the Daytona it is just how the watch works for me.

I struggle with the Canopus as well … I’ve never seen one in person though. As for the Platinum, it’s beautiful but just wish it had a bracelet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Purely a personal choice. I'd go with the Omega.

I have never owned a Daytona, but my SpeedMaster FOIS is a favorite. I find it on my wrist as much as any of Rolex watches. I do like the Rolex bracelets more than the Speed, but like the case better on the Speedy. Can’t go wrong with either one.

So if someone is wearing a watch that doesn’t say Rolex on it they are wearing nothing?

Haha Holding any Daytona, even that Le Mans white gold one, next to a VC makes the Rolex look like a cartoon. It's the sporty charm of the Rolex that keeps me coming back. It's a machined watch made to tight tolerances for a massed produced object, nothing more.
