Will We See Rolex AD’s discount in the near future??
After watching some YouTube watch content of late one guy thinks that soon the AD’s will be discounting.
I currently have an Oysterflex Daytona 126519LN (black dial) on order, deposit paid , coming in the next couple of months hopefully . Does anyone think that this discounting will happen in the near future ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Possibly on two tones, OP’s and datejusts etc - but not on the tasty ones every body wants!

There are currently pieces trading under retail or just about in the grey market. ADs will have to compete with grey market prices eventually. So the answer is yes if the prices keep going below retail.

Not if they want to remain an AD...

Not for the current / recent high demand pieces. They have such a buffer that even as demand wanes there is still at least a balance of demand at msrp.

I believe the days of Rolex discounts through an AD have come and gone. Why would they? Demand has far surpassed supply... especially for sports models.

Would like to think we will eventually return to the pre-bubble discounts but it's hard to say when. Another 2-3 years once the new plant is going 100%?
Pre Covid, I would see a 5-15% discount on most models with a few exceptions (I.e. SS Daytona, Batman, etc. ) Solid gold discounts would be all over the place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In the current environment going forward, what we may see on some slow-moving Rolex watches are discounts on other non-Rolex items as a bundle. I do not believe Rolex will let ADs openly discount without pulling the line. If the used prices continue to fall below retail on some models, as Omar pointed out, at some point ADs must compete with that in some fashion or they will not be able to sell those models.

I doubt it. They will bundle the poor selling ones with the best selling ones before they discount and we aren’t there yet.

Sadly a discount will only get you back to last month's prices.

Highly doubt it. Maybe on some precious metal models. Discounts destroy a brands image and I’m sure Rolex will make sure it doesn’t happen. Heck the reason I never buy Omega or Breitling new is I know once I leave the shop, my watch is worth a whole lot less than what I paid. Rolex is the only brand I buy new as they hold value pretty well.

Check the grey prices and if it's lower than MSRP then maybe--easiest watch that comes to mind is the white gold Sub and my AD says he still has a handful of people waiting for one who will be paying MSRP.
On pieces above MSRP (such as the watch you describe), the fact that you have to wait months should give you the answer. By the way hope you get the call on that Daytona soon--I picked up that very piece last month and it's a great watch. |

yeah but double digit discounts today would still put prices above what they were the last time we had discounts (6-7 years ago) and those are the people still waiting for discounts lol

Its hard to say for sure if ADs will start discounting in the near future, while some people speculate about it, its always best to wait and see how things unfold.

Will We See Rolex AD’s discount in the near future??
While there are some signs that the market is softening, don’t expect discounts at ADs anytime soon. Perhaps, in a few years, or so, things will change back to the way they used to be.

I really don’t see it .. but I’m not being funny, look back six months at what has happened in the world and who would have predicted any of it ?

Unlikely. Except for the ladies models that are gaudy and sit on display for sale forever. I could see those discounted

I absolutely remember the discounting days. However I believe the brand will not allow things to get back to that and will continue a no discounting rule to their ADs. Now TT and all gold models will be steps closer to buying steel sports (like the old buying jewellery or other brands). Just my take but I believe Rolex will hold strong with the discounting. |

I would think not likely as well. In my country Singapore, it is a small country with high density and demand is reportedly still sky-high (even with demand actually dropping, ADs will not admit it and can still afford to play the bundling game with customers and withhold high-demand stainless steel sports pieces).

People who don't ask for a discount won't get one. Past that it's down to the individual. Try speaking to some ADs and cutting down on Youtube, it's rubbish.

A Rolex AD is first and foremost a retail business. And all the ones I know carry multiple product lines ranging from jewelry to watches. Each of these has its own gross profit margin.
Believe it or not, the Rolex line has one of the lower echelon GPM% to begin with. The mark-up is fixed and the wholesale cost is non-negotiable - unlike items like jewelry that comes from multiple suppliers competing for the retailer’s business. With all the phone, walk-in, email queries like: when can I get a Rolex, how much is a Rolex, do you have any Rolex, etc., etc., etc. - Rolex variable selling cost is through the roof compared to other watch brands (perhaps with the exception of AP & PP for those ADs who carry them, too) Add in the general cost of remodeling and support, also reduces the net profit. All said, unless a model has sat in inventory for more than a year, no discounting is the norm and likely won’t change until a severe financial crisis will happen.
