Made the call- Follow my Impulsive Buy

Just pulled the trigger on a a 2022 batgirl private party via Reddit (IFYKYK the /r group). I negotiated a deal that’s too good to be true by some but maybe luck was on my side. Wont get into how long I’ve been on the AD waitlist. Let’s just say not long but I had the itch. It’s exciting and terrifying at the same time. Like most people say buy the seller and use PP goods and services- All of which I’ve done and then some.

Process took about a week. Had the initial phone call, FaceTimed with the seller to see watch in real time, had seller send a video of them winding watch and changing to a specific time and date, obtained their photo ID, requested a signed invoice by both parties w/ clauses to protect myself, even had my wife face time with their significant other w/ watch in had. Did a true people search on the seller, crossed referenced social media, addresses and everything lined up.

Seller is shipping tmrw with insured overnight service.

Wish me luck- I’ll either be posting pics of a new batgirl or telling everyone I put in PayPal claim.

plot twist: I think the Batman/girl will be discontinued this year. Everyone hyping the Pepsi. Batman/girl is at +10 yrs and it’s time to switch up the gmt with a new bezel. Not saying I bought it for that reason but…

Ha. If I was the seller, I would have stopped the conversation with the request to facetime with my spouse.

They offered. I asked if they had a roommate or friend that could vouch if the was was indeed theirs.

It's unique but not completelystrange I suppose. I just think of all the precautions you took, this one added nothing to the security of the deal.

Wonder why more people don't agree to use an ecscrow service.

PayPal Goods and Services Invoice is the way to go for private purchases when done properly.
I can’t believe the number of people willing to be scammed by sending bank tranfers/wires to strangers.
Congrats and good luck!

Congratulations. I love mine. It’s stunning. But I seriously doubt they’ll discontinue it. Anything can happen of course, but I wouldn’t bet on that.

Agreed it was tedious for both parties. I was able to get a newer GMt for well under market value and trusted seller mark up. l

Congrats OP.

It all boils down to cost savings vs risk. Sounds like the buyer mitigated a significant amount of risk with his due diligence. Now, if that took him 2 hours and he saved $3k. Well worth it.

I believe many of the trusted sellers here aren’t much of a cost savings. A high level of comfort with trust is what they offer which gives them their edge.

Congrats! I've been tempted by a few things on Reddit but am not brave enough to buy from there. It sounds like you did your due diligence though. Look forward to seeing pics of that beauty!
