Been offered a bluesy TT from AD.. to take or not

Hi all,

I have been offered a bluesy by my AD after a fair wait still, around 9 months! I have a black 41mm steel sub that I bought grey 2023 model and wondered should I take the bluesy or not.

I used to have a 40mm bluesy for around 6/7 years and do regret selling it really, but that was back when they were a lot cheaper.

If I was to get the bluesy I would probably be inclined to sell my black sub so not to have 2 Subs.

I also have my name down for a mint DJ41 on Jubilee but that will be a fair bit longer.

I know I have changed my mind a fair bit in the past but would really appreciate your help now I have been offered the Bluesy. They did say to come in no obligation and go from there.

I would probably daily my apple watch if there was a risk of bluesy getting knocked and keep it for nicer occasions or may end up just wearing all the time!

Opinions welcome! I am still a bit annoyed with my black sub date the bracelet is still squeaky despite regular cleaning in soap etc

My other considerations was going the grey route and upgrading to a panda 116 ref or pepsi

If you like it go for it, they are stunning. It's very loud and will get noticed so be concious of that.

The TT blue dial sub are great watches but only buy if you really want it.

Doesn’t seem like you really want a Bluesy.

What makes you think that? I love the blue dial and that is feels to me a lot more special than the black steel sub, but if I got it would probably sell the black sub

never say never to future acquisitions I guess. Also would be nice to have my first ever AD watch and stop the whole grey market chasing

If you've been on the list for 9 months and you're still not sure, I'd pass. Especially since you have the above thought in your head too.

You also mentioned getting this would incline you to sell your Sub. Would adding either of the others cause you to sell your Sub? Something to consider. If you're getting into PM, maybe a Rootbeer?

Either way, good luck in your decision.

Simple rule when offered a piece. If you have to ask, the answer is no.

Do not sell your sub … prices are getting down and the bluesy will / is available under retail … so no need to buy at an AD

That’s a hard one. Out of my collection, the Bluesy is my favorite. It’s a very special watch. It’s a sports watch and a dress watch in one. Real pretty. I would take it as nothing beats buying a Rolex from a Rolex AD. I don’t do gray market. Good luck.

You love the TT blue Sub, but the price gives you pause, I get it.

I’d 100% grab the TT. Only you know if the black Sub has to go, but personally I would try to keep the Sub and add the Bluesy, if at all possible. The pair would offer a nice contrast between a stark purposeful looking diver and a fun colorful one. That would allow you to enjoy them even more for what they are.

I've been wearing my TT Sub regularly for more than 3 years. It was a weekender and special occasion type of watch at first, but it quickly joined the daily rotation and is worn several days a week these days. To me, it's a terrific looking piece. Yes, it's loud, but I don't really care TBH, no one else cares either. I wear it for myself, generally at the office.

I would add the TT Submariner and keep the SS Submariner. For me, the SS Submariner is the cornerstone of my collection and gets the most wrist wear. If you have both the TT Submariner and the SS you can wear them for a while while you wait on your Mint DJ. Go for it.

I agree with several posts above, if you have to ask, then the answer is no.

Also, review why you sold the previous one.

I had one - it's a gorgeous watch but as noted, it's very loud and for me, it was just too flashy and it had to go. My only regret is that I lost money on it (this was all pre-covid).

If the bracelet is squeaking, then perhaps it's too loose? If that's how you like it (loose) then maybe you should try and squirt some silicone in the links, see if that helps.

I was also offered a Bluesy this weekend but I declined it. It's an amazing timepiece but it's too loud for me. I am waiting for a CHNR which is more subtle and I would feel more comfortable wearing it.

It’s about the most opposite of “under the radar” as you can get imo. Wasn’t for me but for each his own.

OP, I wouldn’t. Sounds like that’s where you’re leaning anyways.

Id keep your sub..I passed a bluesy recently. It actually helped me as they seemed to appreciate when I said "it's not one for me, let someone who really wants it get it"

Next thing my AD calls with my watch! Coincidence maybe

I'd jump on it, but I'm not you. If you have hesitation, pass on it.

It is a beautiful watch, bought one from my AD and it looks great but I decided to move away from TT and sold it along with my CHNR. If you like it go for it but if you are not sure then don't.

Probably my favorite modern Sub. I’d do it, just for help build a relationship with an AD. Go for it. It’s a stunning piece.

If I could only own 1 watch, it would be my Black Submariner.

My favorite watch in my collection is my Blue Two Tone Submariner (Bluesy).

I find no conflict in owning both.

I have both a black sub and a bluesy. They are two totally different watches. The black sub is an iconic watch, very subdued. The bluesy is just gorgeous and one of my favorites. But it can't take the place of the black sub. So my input is if you love the bluesy, get it. But don't sell the black sub as they are not one in the same.

As someone who owns an older Bluesy and wants a black sub.

I say buy the Bluesy. Sure it's a little louder / flashier for sure. But that's what I like about it.

It's a beautiful looking watch.

When you want to tone it down a little you'll sport the black sub.

It's a great one, two combo.

I look forward having them both some day soon.

Only buy what you're really going to wear and use. The Blusey is a stunning watch but it's not for me, I was offered one around Xmas time and I passed, so that someone else who truly loves this watch may have an opportunity to purchase it. I do love my black Sub though. Best of luck to you and enjoy wearing it!

Nothing wrong with having both. In my case one with date and one without. One with some color. I think you should get it if it speaks to you!

If you’re questioning it, then no. You should be excited and love getting a new watch.
