OP - Celebration advices.

Hello TRF members,

As everyone here, I’m am a watch enthusiast and I’m looking for some advices.

I was searching for an OP celebration 41, since I’m used to 39 to 41mm watches.

I just received the call for a 36 celebration and now I don’t know if I get the 36mm or try to wait for the 41.

I’m in love about the watch and I’m buying for collection purposes and mayyyybe sell one day in the future (10 years), so, yes, I think about the value in the future.

What do you people think, I give a shot to wait the 41mm with all risks involved (stop the production) or go to the 36?

I have a 19cm wrist and I don't care using smaller watches but never tried a 36mm Rolex, its to small for my wrist? In the end I think it's pretty much about the size of a 36mm on me and value in the future.

Get the 36mm. You might not get another chance to get that dial for MSRP. Besides smaller dials are in now.

Get it. If you turn it down, you may never be offered another, in ANY size!

Get it if you love the dial. 36 is the classic OP size.

I’d go to your dealer and try it on, see if you like it and then decide.

I would usually go for the 41, but I think the detail on the celebration dial actually looks much nicer on the 36. Go for it!

36 is the all-time classic size and looks good on nearly all wrists.

If you are used to Rolex 40mm you will find the 36 jarring at first. You will think it’s too small, but it’s not.

I have mostly 40s in my lineup but I recently got a DJ 36 and it feels amazing on my near 7 inch wrist.

I prefer the OP in 36.

Get the 36mm. I generally go for 40mm for Rolex but the 36mm looks better in 36mm IMO

Not sure what the resell is. But surely you could use the money from a 36 to find most of a 41?

I'm a little out of touch with market since the dip

I'd get it if offered. 36mm is a great size for an OP, but I'm wearing a vintage 34mm OP as I type this. It really depends what you get yourself used to.

Edit to add no idea on future value!

I'd take any sized celebration motif I could get. Even the 31, I could find a wrist for it.

I would try it on before deciding. Your feeling when you look at the watch on your wrist is more important than people on a forum saying what to do.

Don’t worry about what others say

Try it on. If you like it, get it. If you don’t, let someone else enjoy it. I can guarantee there will be someone.

Be wary of people advising 36 is too small, those same people are likely to wear Robert Graham shirts.

Give it to your wife. If I was offered a 36mm that's what I would do. Too small for me and I have a 6.75 wrist. I have an OP 39mm in rhodium and I would prefer to wear that over a 36mm celebration dial personally but I would NEVER turn that watch down if offered it. Buy it!

Then be wary of me and no idea who Mr. Graham is. 36 isn't too small, people wear them I guess, but 41 is far better suited to his wrist size.

On the other hand, it sounded like it was mostly about future value anyhow.

Easy to go try on a 36 op first just to see for size. Most ad’s have 36mm op on display.

I mostly only wear Iron Maiden shirts, but that doesn’t change the fact that 36mm is small for a men’s Rolex.

36mm is THE traditional size for a men’s Rolex, esp the OP. They come in 28 or 31 for ladies. Or 34 as a unisex mid size.

Ugly and small for 19cm wrist.
I would turn down any size of this clown type of dial watch. The ugliest watch ever made in the modern history.

I agree. Do you have a wife you could give it to? Or a daughter?
