I got the call but declined

This is pretty wild but I expressed interest at a Chicago area location for a Submariner Date, and they must of messed up the exact configuration and offered me the Blusey.

Some background, this is SA back in March of 2023 barely acknowledged my existence, then in September 2023 took me more seriously (but without any purchase history) and took down my name for what I expected was the SS Sub but instead was TT.

So in three months on the waiting list and was offered the Blusey.

I declined. insert "it's happening" gif.

You did the right thing if it's not the piece you wanted. The AD should not have a problem selling the Bluesy, and I would expect you'll still be considered for the steel Sub Date.

I actually purchased my SS Sub a few weeks ago, so this was quite a surprise. I really didn't even follow up with the SA.

The Chicago market has been especially tough for me as I've been to nearly every AD in the past year without even a hint of an offer on any watch. I'm really hoping this means things are getting easier in this market for the second half of 2024.

I did a quick check on the price and the watch is $15,600 USD so there really wasn't a price increase YOY either.

This is what I'm thinking. I get the sense that the SS Subs are in higher demand than the TTs (black or blue). Maybe that had a few potential leads back out of the Bluesy purchase & thought they could bait & switch you.

Good Call, thought to drop 15K for something you don’t want.

Wait it out, they will take care of you.

Did they acknowledge it was the incorrect piece?

Did you get your Sub from another AD?

Chicago AD in particular one that sales jewelry on Oak St is the worst. Bought a sub date years ago for a family member and asked one for my 40th 2 years in advance and crickets. Got the sub via an out of state AD and expressed interest in a BLNR. Been waiting3 years so at this point assume I will never get one. I do send a text every few months and last was offered a handful of undeseriae date just.

Is it happening? You got offered a 2 ton Sub, even during the peak of this crazy craziness, people were being offered, stainless steel submariners.
I think every it’s happening post is a case of egocentricism bias, or whatever the official psychological term for that is

I would hardly call that a bait and switch.

Not sure what to tell you... you were offered a watch you didnt want at a price point that is 3.5x as high as what you were looking to spend for a piece that does trade below retail... so which "call" did you actually get?! You got an unsolicited ping for a piece you never expressed interest in to begin with...

That's like saying I got a call for a BMW : I had wanted to buy a 218i but the BMW dealer kindly offered me a 760Li...

Correct.

An AD where you have NO purchase history calls you and offered you a PM a Rolex, and you decline… you will NEVER get a call from them again, for any piece, ever.

It was the TT Bluesy.
1.5x of the SS at AD.

The new model isn’t trading below MSRP. $16,750.00 to $22,875.00 on platforms.

OP is not interested in it, but might have been, thus the call. However, I believe many here would love a Bluesy…

Who cares? I'm not buying something because I got a call. There is a very easy to use grey market and for someone like me who is probably buying one more Rolex in total, I'm not too worried.

The purpose of this thread is to add another data point to supply / demand data. I'm sure there is someone who wants a Blusey and isn't getting the call. The poster above me also pointed out this piece is not selling below MSRP on the grey market, so it's not like I was offered a full gold sub.

Kane County Illinois

Just joined from Illinois! Interested in a SS No Date Sub, so any suggestions for the Chicagoland area? It sounds like it'll be a long time for an actual purchase, so looking at the Boutique section, too!
