Chris,
Sounds as though you've had a real tough time. Well done on making the decision to quit the cigs, the single most important act you can make that will have a profound positive effect on your health. I hope you get plenty of encouragement and that your resolve holds out. Stay with it - it will be worth it, believe me. I packed up 5 years ago, so I'll be rooting for you. Best regards, Neil.

I quit after 21 years with the patch... it works as your body gets the nicotine then you just have to work out the mental 'habit' part. I never smoked in my house, I would go outside, so when I quit and I felt the urge, I would go outside and stand there as if I were smoking. May sound silly but it helped. When I walked back inside I would tell myself that if I had just had a cig, it would have been smoked and put out by now. Anyway, good luck! You will feel tons better after about 6 months to a year after quitting depending on how long you smoked for.

You can do it, Chris. Keep that next cig at bay and you're done.

Good luck man. I never smoked cigarettes, but I know how hard certain addictions can be on the mind. Also the pigs(govt) are raising the taxes on packs again. If you fail in this quest, at least try to cut back and try to quit at a later date. Best wishes in your battle. brad.

All the best for you. I quit 2 years ago and I am sure it works for you also. If you have some time, purchase this book: "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking" Allen Carr. Good luck and keep us posted!

Congratulations Chris. Good decision. I was just talking to my brother tonight he smoked for about 30 years and quit last year and said he never wants to go back. I think the people who are successful in quitting just decide they are finished with it. Best of luck with it.

Best of luck! It is very difficult but when you get through it, you will look back and be so proud (and much better off).

probably the best thing that will ever happen to you. I quit smoking a while back, and my way of quitting was to face my fears. I carried a pack of cigarettes everywhere I went, in the car, always in my pockets, but I refused to smoke it. its the will power that matters, for me at least, the patches and gum didnt work.. |

Excellent news Chris I'm now two weeks without a smoke
Just remember there will be routines that trigger off the ritual smoke, Its probably a good idea to take note of them now while you are smoking, try and change them after giving up, that was the hardest thing for me. Finish the last smokes in your pack, throw the empty pack away and don't buy any more. I'm fairly lucky that I have not been offered one in the past two weeks, that has made such a huge difference. James (Gedanken) got me onto the rule of 3's: 3 days for the nicotine to clear out of your blood stream 3 weeks for physiological adjustment 3 months for psychological adjustment I have had close calls of weakness here and there, but I refused to light up only cos I am that damn stubborn! Good luck, remember we are all here to support you which ever decision you make, its the best Birthday present to yourself :-) Good luck my Friend, Strength and Success Dave.

Best of luck. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. I would sit down and calculate your savings and eventually buy yourself another Rolex. You're going to feel better soon physically, and down the road when the cigarette money yields another watch. Good luck.

Chris! Congratulations on an excellent decision. I don't smoke, so won't even try to pretend I know how difficult it is going to be, but I wish you strength and quick success!
