Icon14 Incoming: Silver OP

I asked my AD (never bought a Rolex before) if he can get me a silver OP. He came back to me two days later saying he has one, but I need to buy a Tudor too.

So I just bought my wife a Tudor and I got my BEAUTIFUL 36" silver dial OP.

It really is much nicer in person than in photos. The way the light glints off the gold border on the markings, and the cleanliness of the dial. It even has a slightly pinkish tone when viewed at an angle.

I already asked the AD to try to get me a color dial OP.

Happy to have joined the club!

Sounds good apart from the bit about having to buy something else to get what you want

Incoming: Silver OP

Happy for you A beautiful reference. I am surprised you had to buy another watch to get the OP, but it’s crazy times in Rolex world. Now, we need a pic! BTW, I have the same exact reference, and it is stunning, IRL, as you said. Welcome to the forum.

That kinda sucks that they made you buy something else in order to get the OP. In either case though.....congrats to you and your wife! The Silver OP is a very classy and elegant piece. Hopefully they won't make you buy something else if they get a color dial OP for you.

Congrats! Been waiting quite some time for an OP41 (or 36) with the silver dial.

I find it unethical to have you buy a Tudor, in order to obtain a Rolex.
Personally I would’ve said to keep the OP.

Did the AD explain the reason you had to buy a Tudor?

Congratulations. Was it any Tudor that you had to buy, or did he specify a particular model?

Congrats on your new watch.I hope you enjoy it for many many years.

I would have walked when advised that I had to buy a Tudor in order to get the OP but that’s just me … a crabby old guy who detests the AD game.

I hope your wife really enjoyed that Tudor, as much as you're enjoying the OP! Congrats to you both.

Thanks everyone.

Unfortunately I'm in China and this is the game here. Unless you're very connected, they're not going to sell you a Rolex without some sort of bribe. To them it would be idiotic to sell one at retail price, because they could sell it on the grey market and make a profit.

An aspect of the culture here, which is despise, is that it's "clever" to extract as much money as possible out of someone, regardless of ethics.

Anyway, it's OK, my wife loves the watch so no issues.
