Rolex Service Price?

I’ve been a member of this forum since 2009, and like to pop in occasionally to see what’s happening in Rolex World. Most recently for me, my Submariner (16800) began to require rewinding everyday - otherwise, it would stop running, even while being worn constantly. I’ve owned my Submariner since sometime in the mid-nineties, and had it serviced once by RSC-Dallas in 2014. At that time, I shipped it off to the Service Center, waited several weeks, and was naturally delighted when I received my beautiful, flawless watch back. But, I cannot recall what I paid for the work. This time, and primarily because of the perfidy of the USPS, I chose to hand my Sub over to a nearby AD here in Austin, Texas, and to allow them to work their magic on my watch. After their examination, the AD quoted $1,250.00, and estimated six weeks for completion. The cost was somewhat more than I expected, but I authorized the AD to proceed. My question is this: is that price within the ballpark, in anyone’s opinion?

My Sub was done at Dallas in October 2023. Cost of service was $850 with a $100 return shipping charge.

There was no additional work required by the RSC other than the overhaul.

Did you see the estimate? There has to have been additional work that was either required or optional.

Like you, I went the AD route once. Never did it again!

The 16800 Submariner uses a 3035 movement. This is a "Classic" movement and has a higher service cost than a 3135 Modern movement. The price quoted to you is the the correct price as far as an AD or RSC is concerned, as laid out in our Rolex Service book. A service for a Classic Professional is $1250 USD.

In the U.S., for a standard service on 31XX or 32XX movement, believe it’s $850.

Personally, I would be pretty disappointed with your 16800's current behavior after only 10 years after an RSC service. My vintage 5513 went 15 years after a non RSC overhaul and did not exhibit those behaviors when I sent it to RSC last year--which was primarily for waterproof protection rather than running poorly.

10 years is more than the average timespan that most watches reach between services, I think it's excellent if you can daily a watch and only service it once every 10 years.

Just had a quote from my local RSC £800 for a service for my GMT

My 2010 Explorer I is currently at RSC (complete service of movement). My AD charged me $760.

I just paid 832 € for my 18038 from 1984. There was a discount because I did not want any polishing.
