What to do...
I have fallen in love with the Datejust 31 - Oyster bracelet -Oystersteel yellow gold / diamonds - olive floral face with diamond bezel.
I was able to try on an 'exhibition' watch in Harrods in London - which they were not able to sell me - but they did put my name on the interest list. That was in October and I have not heard a peep.

I have recently turned to a small family Authorized Rolex dealer in an Eastern European country - they have offered to 'order' me one w/ a 30% deposit - wait time 10 months to one year. Comes to approx $22,380 when you do the conversion. No tax back since it's a special order they say per EU law.
I have purchased from this store before-they are very reputable - 3 years ago I purchased a Yachtmaster for my dad's 70th (which is perhaps why they are willing to help me get this one?)

Should I go ahead with the order at this shop? Or put my name on more lists - with perhaps Mayors in the US / Watches of Switzerland in the UK, etc. - prices are coming out cheaper by $900-$1700 with doing the UK pound/ Dollar calculations IF I can ever find one in the US/UK.

What are my chances of actually getting this watch NEW from an AD in US/UK where the price is less? OR do I just pull the trigger pay slightly more and know I will have it?

Have you seen this watch in your travels? Is it actually as RARE as they tell me?

Did you check with your local AD in FL, to see if they can order it, for you? Many times they can. If the European AD can order it, any AD should be able to do the same. It’s a real beauty, but I like larger watches. The price seems high to me, but that’s probably because of the diamonds. I have not seen one, bu5 I do like its looks. Check around before you pay more than you should. Good luck.

VAT refund is there if you are not an EU resident, no matter the circumstances of the order. Once you pay in full ask for the paperwork to do it by them or by yourself via regular customers procedure or us a broker.

Considering most EU countries have VAT ranging from 18-25% I would not forget that money if I had the chance.

The other side of the coin is that you'll probably have to send it documents proofing the watch exited EU/entered US for which you will be eligible for US equivalent taxation.
