Finally here, Daytona 126519LN

Got the call a few days ago that this came in. With a chuckle and already knowing the response (“it’s an exhibition model only and unavailable for purchase”) I expressed interest with my AD a few weeks ago. I tried it on. Fast forward a few days ago, my AD said that it was available for me to purchase. Miracles do happen. I raced down and picked it up while getting some expensive jewelry for the wife so she wouldn’t be pissed at such an extravagant gift for myself. “Happy wife, happy life” is my mantra. I had been told that this would take about 5 years of being on the list. But I got it after constant monthly visits to my AD, refining my wish list, and treating the AD like a person. Anyway, I am over the moon. The SS version had been a grail watch for me for over 20 years. I figured that I could up the ante and get to the top of the list with a PM Daytona for only about 10k more than the grey market Stainless steel plus the wife jewelry expense. Long story short, it was well worth the gamble and expense. I have one of my grail watches, my wife is happy with her unexpected gift (Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, lol), and my bank account is hurting. All in all, it was a spectacular plan.

Love this dial

Congrats, absolutely stunning....had a chance to try this reference and the ghost and much preferred this dial....would have loved to compare to the similar diamond dial as I maybe in the market for one of these depending on what gets shown next week....

Great pick up although I think you got it quicker because you were buying your wife some expensive jewellery at the same time. Happy Bundling

I LOVE that!!! So happy to hear supply/demand is getting back to normal too. Great pickup! Are you still on the list for a SS Daytona or did this piece satisfy the Daytona wanting?

I am still open to a SS Daytona since it is so iconic in black. But I love the WG Daytona on OF with the black dial because it flies so under the radar. Plus the OF is such a comfortable bracelet that I forget that I am wearing it.

The AD offered it as a bundle; I chose which piece of jewelry (no floor on the jewelry price as a showing of respect) But I chose a comparable piece of jewelry in relation to the MSRP of the watch. I took the ADs offer and accepted it. In the end, I got the watch probably at or just above grey market prices given the cost of the jewelry plus my wife got an exquisite piece of jewelry for basically free. It was a wash but everyone was happy in the end, the AD, the wife, and me.

I think we have different ideas on the meaning of the word free!

Nice watch, though! Let's see it on the wrist!

Congrats! It's an awesome reference! Although I'm not thrilled that ADs are still leveraging/wielding the jewelry purchase.

Free is relative. I paid the same price as if I were to go grey and I got a “free” ,so to speak, jewelry. And the wrist shot…

Congrats on this masterpiece! As long as you feel good about the deal, that is all that matters. Super shady AD tactics though in my opinion (product tying + telling you it would otherwise take 5 years to get this watch)
