Rolex ADs didn’t want my business, this AD did…

Waited for a year for a Sky dweller, got this instead and love it! It’s Ok Rolex, you sell 1.2 million watches a year; you won’t feel loosing 1 customer..

Enjoy. Piaget has always made some interesting watches.

My initial foray into watches was TimeZone, and there was far more watches sought after than a site like Rolex Forums.

So I was exposed to a lot of different brands that people here rarely look into, like Parmigiani, Omega, Ulysse Nardin, Corum, Piaget, Cartier, JLC, GP, Panerai, etc etc.

If you couldn’t get one specific watch, you would just pivot over to another brand.

This Piaget looks really nice. Congratulations. I have to agree what you said about Rolex and Rolex ADs. I'm waiting for GMT II Batgirl over 3 years now and nothing. I'm buying other watches in the same AD but no Rolex for me. I think Rolex should change something with it. So I right now Rolex loses 2 customers me and you. Anyone else?

Very nice. I've always liked the Polo since it came out but have balked at the price for a stainless steel watch. That's the 150th anniversary edition, congratulations

That's a conversation starter. Great watch!

A year on a SD with no luck? That's weak sauce.

Enjoy your new watch in the best of health, it's absolutely beautiful.

Enjoy it. I have several Rolexes, too difficult to get now, onto IWC, Panerai, plenty of choices. Even Tudor if you like Rolex designs.

Great looking watch! Enjoy!

Unfortunately, for every Sky Dweller an AD gets there are probably 100 or so wanting the same watch. What is an AD to do? As much as they might try to please everyone they simply can't as the demand for Rolex far exceeds the production. Not so with many of the other brands.

They can establish a fair queue system based on first in first out, provide transparency and let customer know how many people are in front of them for the particular model, and not to waste people's time and be a **** about it.

I am a relatively new collector, when I first started didnt know any better and tried to get a rolex from AD, right off the bat it went south - they wont even let me in the store even though it's literally empty and i just wanted to see what's available. Instead I have to get on a wait list just to get in the store, and told it's a 3 hour wait, so we went to lunch and as food is being served only 30 mins in, got text said we need to come, wife was real pissed.

Walks in, got a 20 min lecture from some kid with a suit 2 size too large on why rolex is so exclusive, then been told they have no inventory (was just looking for a steel fluted datejust or regular op nothing special), this is followed by another 15 min of filling out the questionnaire and why you want the watch etc.... it's a complete waste of time, almost a year since and nothing. My uncle, who buys lot of luxury items, tried to take some photos of their display watches from OUTSIDE of the rolex AD in tokyo, and someone literally ran out and told him he cant do that and wont allow him in the store either. He was super pissed, called me to rant lol

Nowadays, could easily paid 1-2k more over msrp and get a new one from secondary dealer, but with a better understanding of all the watch brands now, plus the whole AD experience, rolex as a brand has turned so negative for me I dont want anything to do with it, much less wear one.

All this fake exclusivity on an average 10-15k mass produced watch is really a turn off.

Sorry to turn this into a rant, congrats on the Piaget!

That's so strange. I found that other brands not named Rolex would take my money in exchange for a watch as well.

Agree, pretty crappy AD. But not all are like this, just like any establishment. Some good, some bad. You need to find a better one.

Went to a Rolex AD. I think it’s just Rolex AD. Needless to say I’ve never felt so unwanted at a store before. I don’t take it personally tho. That Piaget, awesome piece. Congrats
