Where did the Blue Ombre dial from the DD come from?

I was on the configurator tool and noticed today for the first time there is now a blue ombre dial in addition to the bright blue on the WG DD. First ive noticed it.

Wish it came with indexes or baguettes.

I remember seeing one on display in a boutique many months ago, but time flies and it may have been as long as two years ago
I had a conversation with them about it and it was the first time i had heard the term "Ombre" to describe the fading effect.
It was around many years ago back in the 5 digit era and it was refered to as a "Vignet" dial back in the day.
The one i saw in recent times had diamond markers in WG and as it has always been, quite stunning that's arguably one of the best that Rolex has produced

I was surprised to see it's return to the catalogue after all these years, but i suppose something so lovely was bound for a return, even if they had to rename it.

Blue Ombre with diamonds has been available for several years on the 36MM WG DD. Blue Ombre with romans is new this year on the 40MM WG DD, and I must say it's spectacular.
