Another “Ghost” incoming!

Looks like there were several 126519LN aka “Ghost” purchased recently by the people here so I decided to share pictures of mine too! Picked it up today from AD at pre-increase price of $32.1k.

My ultimate goal was to get a special occasion watch to pair with my Sub Date and DJ41 Mint green. Initially I was mainly considering AP RO 15510 silver dial, but also mentioned to my Rolex AD in January that PM Daytona on oysterflex can be a good option as AP might be a long wait. I wasn’t expecting to get THE message only 4 months after sharing this faint interest

After a brief research I decided to take it and worst case scenario trade for RO if I don’t like it. However after wearing it for half a day I don’t think it is happening )

Watch does feel VERY special, while being rather low key in white gold. From a special occasion I am thinking to flip it to my daily now!

Other first impressions:
- Size is perfect for small wrists. Mine is 6.3-6.5 inch and Daytona looks far better than Sub and a bit better than DJ. Compared to RO it is much more dainty and exquisite. People say that finishing on RO is miles better. I see somewhat better, definitely not “miles”.
- Glidelock in 126519 is a very welcome addition. Clasp size is just right. Not too big like in Sub, not too small like in DJ.
- I actually like a metal ring around ceramic bezel. It makes it thinner and in line with overall design shift to thinner markers and sub dials.
- Oysterflex is comfy as many people mentioned. Doesn’t feel like a cheap rubber and keeps the watch light.
- You are not that stressed about scratching them since bezel is ceramic and strap is rubber. Only vulnerable part is clasp. (Any best practices on protecting it from damage? :) ).

Overall very impressive watch and one that can’t be really evaluated adequately by photos. You need to see it in person to appreciate.

Big congrats, that’s an awesome piece and one of my favorite PM pieces from Rolex, I hope to add one someday.

Hope to collect mine Friday, enjoyed your write up about it .,
There are products in UK, Watch Protect Company that has a liquid compound you can brush on the protect the clasp if you so wish, not sure I will but I’ll see .. some are all for scratches, I sadly own OCD so it can control things a wee bit ..
It looks really good on, is your OysterFlex D/E ? Think the glide lock is a great addition, 2cm I believe ….

Yes mine is D/E and glidelock closed at 65% inside the clasp. I am still thinking what is the best wrist position for the watch since crown guards and chronometer pushers are rather substantial and want me to move the watch a bit further from hand than I normally do with my Sub and DJ.

Actually I just measured and glidelock gives you about 15mm of adjustment, not 20. Still plenty tho if the OF pieces selected correctly.

I am sure you are already excited about picking it up on Friday, but here is one more picture of the watch in a morning New England sun to keep the hype up!)

Congrats!

Nice assessment on the watch. I have the 11 series and love mine. I was deciding between this and a Patek 5164, glad I went with the Daytona. It just feels more special.

As far as comparison to the RO, I wanted a chrono and I hate how the RO 38mm the date isn’t centered between the hour markers. I think the RO does feel special because of the integrated bracelet, and most people talk about finishing with the RO because of the bracelet giving the entire watch a finished look. But it also makes every part of the watch a huge scratch magnet. I’ve seen a “well worn” RO and man do they look beat up.

Thank you!

I have seen aquanaut in person at boutique and fully agree with you. They are nice, but not as refined as Daytona. Maybe it is just steel vs WG. I am sure in WG aquanaut also feels special, but tough to obtain.

As of RO, yes I am worried about scratches. Maybe at some point of life I wouldn’t care, but currently a 30-40k watch is a big purchase for me and I want it to look great for as long as possible.

I am also thinking about a perfect 3 watch collection and as of now it shapes up as:
1. PM Daytona on OF - daily
2. RO AP 15510 with Silver or blue dial - weekends light use
3. Rolex GMT Pepsi - travel/vacation

I will also have a hard time selling my DJ 41 mint green jubilee fluted as it is such a nice refreshing watch, so it might be a 4 watch collection after all :)

DJ41 is a very comfortable watch. As you said thought it is a little big like the sub41. I’m thinking of trading my DJ41 for sure and maybe the sub41 no date for a DD40 white gold blue hombre dial. Let see how the CPO process work out in the future.

I got a protective sticker kit from Amazon and only used the single strip that covers the shiny part of the clasp. I have no worries anymore as this the most exposed and sensitive area of the watch. I left the brushed areas of the clasp exposed and have had no problems for over a year now. For the new glide lock that is longer you’ll have to find the correct kit that fits the newer style.

Trust me, myself and OP did care about what it cost .. Friday was XX and Saturday same watch was XX and 1200 gbp more .. having already been increased a short while ago .. so yeah, when I got the call, same as OP, that cost did matter ..
