I walked into an AD….

Went to Vegas this weekend to see Dead and Company at the Sphere. Like many of you my favorite pass-time in Vegas is not gambling. It’s visiting the many Swiss watch ADs up and down the strip. At the risk of appearing naive I always ask for available stock in Rolex ADs. The dealer outside Belagio told me they just had a Deep Sea 136660 become available. I have heard rumor these are not hard to find but that has not been my experience. In fact I’ve not seen one in the steel in a long time and was blown away when they brought it out. I’m 6’3”, 200 lbs with 7 1/4” wrists and found wearing it comfortable and striking. Purchased it on the spot. Highlight of the trip (although I’d highly recommend seeing Dead & co at the Sphere as well). Moral of the story is there is never any harm in asking.

Cool story. Congrats on the new watch. I got to see my son, Kevin, a rock drummer, in a local Philly band, open for The Dead years ago, in Philly. I believe they were just calling themselves “The Dead”, at the time. Obviously, it was after Jerry Garcia’s death. That was a special night, which I’ll never forget. I can’t remember what watch I wore, but it was probably an Omega.

I was there for business this past weekend and was only able to catch the Letter to Earth show at the Sphere. Couldn't make Dead and Co. unfortunately, so I'm jealous on that front. I passed by the Wynn AD who claimed they had absolutely nothing available.

Anyway, congrats on the new watch!

I bet not so many years ago most of the Rolex sold by Las Vegas dealers were bought on whim by visitors. The fact that there are so many ADs in such a concentrated area suggests they hope it’s that way again some day.

I absolutely love your experience, and wish more could have one like it.

I too was in Las Vegas last weekend to watch Dead and Co for a few night. Tried to get into the AD at Ceasers, and the guard at the door turned me away. As I had my Pepsi on, not that he noticed as I was also wearing a dead T shirt as well.

To be totally honest I think that may have soured me on Rolex. I have several currently, including my grandpas, and have loved the brand but dislike where this market is.

Waited 5 years for a GMT and finally went grey for the Pepsi. I would love a Daytona or even a Starbucks
, but not sure I am interested in playing this game anymore…

Congrats! Vegas seems to have a decent amount of stock especially given there are several ad’s on the strip. I went to the wynn and inquired about a 36mm Explorer 1 in steel for my dad. 36 hours later, I was told to come by. Was nice and easy.

Well ADs are just shops that sell watches and like all retail shops main priority is to sell as many of there products they sell to anyone who enters there retail watch shop. Congratulations on your new watch wear it in good health for many years to come now thats far more important.

Thanks for sharing a great story.
The AD may have had a waitlister "bail out".
