The Rolex Forum.....a secret society????

Everyone knows the stories of the Illuminati, Skull and Bones, Bohemian Grove, and a few other "groups" with the whole "planning to take over the world" reputation which in some part is probably true just by the fact that what today we call NETWORKING, when people attempt to get into groups for furtherance of their politics/ideals/fortunes etc. etc

I know there are a bunch of members here that are Freemasons (Masons) and I can remember in my home town growing up, there were buildings/lodges that I'd walk past always wondering what they were all about.

The Orange Hall, The Elks Lodge, the Oddfellows (which I always thought was odd group to want to belong to), and even the Order of Foresters which I had thought had to do with lumber. ( I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK.....kind of thing)

There was also the Moose Lodge, The Kiwanis Club, The Rotary Club, and the one I belonged to for a few years in my 20s, the Kinsmen Club.

We raised a lot of money for hockey rinks and for Cystic Fibrosis and had a reputation for wife swapping, although I guess I missed those meetings, but I also don't remember trying to take over the world.

Besides the Rolex Forum which secret societies did you guys belong to??? Or is it a secret?

Here's some clubs and their supposed origins...https://getpocket.com/explore/item/e...might-not-know

To paraphrase Groucho, I wouldn’t be a member of any secret society that would have me as a member.

My experience as well. I'm not much of a "joiner".

We’re all in the club - the Rolex on-wrist is the “signal”. Masons have their handshakes; we have our watches

I sort of had a brush with them.
A family friend was a Mason but not actively as far as i know or can ever remember.

Then there was a girl that i was dating whose father was an active Mason.
The boys(offspring) had their own society and the girls had theirs. I was occassionally invited to secret ceremonies for both through my close relationship with the girl.
I think i was being assessed for my suitability but i didn't make the grade.
The break-up was terrible between us, but i'll give her her dues.
She was a faithful and obedient daughter as it worked out that they had closed ranks around her.
But it was never openly revealed that those were actually the circumstances around it, only scant references to aspects of it. But the light eventually went on in my head after all the fallout.
I'll say this. It made me a much better person so in that respect it was a good thing for me to experience

It opened my eyes and gave me cause to reflect upon many things in life over the years and give me some clarity.
I fully realize that i wasn't cut out for that scene at all as i'm basically born to be too wild.

Best for her and her associations and best for myself.

Don't ask me about secret handshakes and such as i was never made privy to such things.
Also, one would never suspect how many there are around you until you see them together through the eyes of an outsider and recognise them through social connections, even across the generational divides.

Given the poor quality of Google search results these days, that doesn’t prove anything.

Isn't Hooters just like a strip club but without the pole.

Asking for a friend.

Last time I took my Arab friend. He loved it. However, we noticed way too many families. It's a family friendly spot.

Had a couple of wives that I enrolled into, what we in England call, 'the pudding club'.

In this example,'roll' being the most fun part, of the transitive verb enroll!
