Blackberry to get hooked or not?!
Yesssss everyone has it and swear by it!!! Now the peer pressure is edging me also! and trust me I dont need emails for any work in the middle of the night! or 24/7. But just the fact I can stay in touch with my buddies and check TRF on the go is justifying me to get a blackberry!
Though im still undecided about the models and even where can i get a device at a good price?? im sure some of the members are into mobile fone biz??? As here in Dubai the operators are charging an insane premium hence most of the phones purchased are from the grey market or abroad... Another thing is im a nokia e90 user how easy is it to transfer all my contacts?? Thankyou for your advises.. |

I was trying to upgrade my wife's phone to Blackberry (8900) and I shocked when the saleslady in ATT told me that I have to signed up for $30 a month plan.
I told her that my wife does go to internet as much and the phone comes with wifi. She said it doesnt matter. Another

I'm on T-Mobile and have used Blackberries for about 4 or so years. LOVE THEM!!!!! The most stable device I've ever used (and I've used many!).
Currently have a Curve 8320 and it's rock solid. I tried a 8900 when it first came out but as there were OS issues, I went back to the 8320. I'm sure my next one will be a 8900 though since it's been improved. I can't imagine ever using anything other than a Blackberry. It is addicting!!! |

I have an 8300 for work and it's the ultimate for email/calendar junkies. I am about to switch to an iPhone, which is more like a Fisher Price email device but awesome for everything else. Depends on what use case fits you best.

Blackberries are great, and durable. I've dropped mine on the concrete more than a few times, and there's not a dent or scratch. Try that with an iPhone.
The only downside is data plans in Canada are amongst the most expensive in the World, whereas USA has some of the cheapest |

Other US carriers require data plans for their PDA devices as well, so AT&T is not the only one to do so. If she has no need for internet and email connectivity on the go, she really has no need for a BlackBerry. The subsidy on those devices is enormous and the company has to make their money back somewhere. Why buy a device that you do not need?

Don't go with a storm. You will be very disappointed, imo. Software glitches, freezes quite often, and page load time online take forever.

Thankyou all!!! really appreciate your inputs!
I guess the curve series is rock solid! Any idea about the pearl 8120??? i guess the drawback is the lack of 'qwerty' cuz im getting it for less than a 100$ if i subscribe for a 6month plan here... |

I used a Pearl for about 6 months and it started to drive me crazy. It still hadn't learned some of my words after that long! The full keyboard is the way to go on a Curve!!!! Trust me! Plus you get more screen space

She wants the WIFI capability so theres no need for Data Plan. My daugther have one without the Data Plan and she uses the internet at all times.

Had to get the internet option to even get the storm through vz for me. If you get lucky and get a functional phone, it will work out well for you.

I don't turn mine on unless I want to talk to somebody..
I don't need to be "connected" to, or with, anybody or any group......

You can browse the web all day long and check your email. That's all she needs.

You will love it. I switched from a BlackBerry to an iPhone back in June and have not looked back. Well, sort of. I'll save that for another thread. The point is I love having access to email and internet on the go. Plus many other features. Go for it!
