124270 Explorer running fast

Hi everyone. New here..
I just got a Rolex Explorer 124270 on Ebay. It went through the expert verification and then to me today. I wound it 25 times, adjusted the bracelet to fit me and put it on. I put it on a timegrapher and it is running +4 and sometimes +5 seconds a day. I thought that I'd wear it for a while and "warm" it up. After 7 hours it is still +4 to +5 sec a day. I am not happy. I have a 124060 and just wound it up 20 times and on the timegrapher it is ZERO secs a day. Both are supposed to have the 3230 movement. An idea why this is happening? Should I request it be returned or send it to Rolex or ...?
thanks

Alternatively if it's still within 5 years of original purchase, simply take it into any Rolex AD for service, should be complementary assuming everything is original.

Returning a watch because it’s running +4 seconds seems crazy to me, but do whatever makes you happy.

I'm, chiming in as Padi hasn't yet.

There are 86400 seconds in a day, don't be upset that your watch is faster than it should be by a mere 2 seconds.

Think yourself lucky it's not slow.

Get rid of all your time checking machines wind your watch 40 plus crown turns clockwise only. Then put it on your wrist and just wear and enjoy wearing it for many year to come in good health now that's far more important.

A watch running fast is a common sign that it's magnetised. I don't think I'd classify 4s a day as significant and it wouldn't bother me but it is technically out of spec for a watch less than 5 years old or a serviced watch less than 2 years since service. If your watch fits either of these criteria you can send it in if you want to. If it doesn't, I would be inclined to put the equipment away, wear the watch and enjoy it.

Well yes in general if a watch gets magnetised they do speed up but not only a few seconds. Most will run very very erratic or even stop and refuse to start, the main culprit is the hairspring sticking. But according to Rolex the parachrome cannot be magnetised, but other parts could, very very doubtful it's magnetised.

In my view +4 is much better than -4....

Something in my brain tells me that gaining 4 seconds is better than losing 4 seconds per day....In some ways I agree with padi56 that there are many many seconds in a day and 4 seconds does not matter much...but as long as it's in the plus...Haha. Someting about losing time...I just don't like it. Personally I would not have it serviced nor would I return it. Finding a watch that achieves + or - 0 seconds per day is very hard...even for a Rolex. Like many have said, just enjoy it and wear it in good health. Some people are and some are not bothered by the inaccuracy. It's all mental. If you can't overcome this MENTALLY, then return it for your peace of mind. And ask the next seller to check the accuracy on a timegrapher BEFORE you make the next purchase.

+4 secs/day is still within Swiss chronometer specs and would have been within Rolex specs till quite recently. Try leaving it crown-up overnight.

What's the big deal? Who buys a Rolex to keep precise time? Flexing, profiling, being seen, having it peek out from under a shirt sleeve, that's what matters.
+4 seconds won't make you late for anything.

isn't +/- 4 sec a day still within COSC standards?

Dude, if super accurate time keeping is what you need, then get a quartz, or a G-shock that automatically syncs with the atomic clock.

Crazy to return it. Just get it adjusted. I bought mine in 2018 and it ran perfectly until 6 months ago when it started to run about +5. I took it to my AD and they adjusted it. Runs perfectly ever since.

You are unhappy because you have a timer that only gives you a quick-look at the timing at the moment. No timegrapher can tell you how it will perform while on your wrist.

However, it is not something wrong, it is simply a minor timing adjustment. If you don't like it, take it to a watchmaker and have it adjusted.

explorer 4 seconds a day fast

thank you all for the replies. I appreciate them all. It is silly in the world of ours to worry about 4 seconds that's for sure. I didn't know if an AD could adjust one of these with the microstella adjustment screws. My AD is 90 miles away so I might go there one day if they will even do it since I didn't but it from them. I tried to but they never seemed to get me in the que. Peace out, mean gene the green marine fighting machine... lol
