Help ...I'm stumped ...

Good evening. I am the newbie who posted before and everyone has been so welcoming and I've done
research and I'm just confused. I've located two submariners that I'm interested in from reputable dealers. One is a 116613LN, 2016 for $13,5. I also found another 116613, 2009 for $13,8. Both are in excellent condition and I've researched that the LN is discontinued. However, I cant tell the major difference especially because of price. What am I missing? Any help is appreciated as this is gonna be my first Rolex.

The bluesy is more popular, so even though a lot older, more money. You did not specify the prefix on the 2009, so If they are both the black, and in similar condition, get the newer one! Good luck, and post pics here, after you get it. We like pics!

Maybe post some photos because what you see as in excellent condition someone else might see something you’ve missed and you’ll get better feedback on if they are worth the $$$

Sellers of used Rolex can ask any price they want to, there is not a set-price. It isn't what they actually sell for.

In this case the 2009 is likely overpriced as the 2016 is a much newer piece, condition being the same.

The 2016 is on the OC Watchguy site. Some reason it won't let me post the pics or the link.

Nashville watch has a 2017 613LB listed at 13,9. That’s the one I would get without a moment’s hesitation.

I would go on condition, not age but that relies on you a) seeing in the flesh and b) knowing what you’re looking for. Other things worth asking are have either been serviced. Also there is always room to haggle. Quite often they will end up being sold for several hundred less than list. Good luck!

Y'all are just great. Thank you so much. I think I'm leaning towards the OC Watch one. Doing research and y'alls input has really helped. I have a phone appointment at 2pm my time Monday so I'll let ya know how it goes. Now I gotta think of my first offer on it. Lol. Any PMs on the issue is appreciated.

Congrats on finding two great options for your first Rolex. The main difference between the two Submariners you mentioned is their production years and slight variations in design and features.

Both are excellent choices, but if you’re leaning towards durability and modern features, the 2016 model might be the better option. However, if you love the classic aesthetic, the 2009 model is a great pick too.

$300 is almost a rounding error on a watch in that price range. IMHO. Does one maybe include shipping?

What an odd question! I’ve had numerous dealings with Patrick over the past 10 years. Why the interest in my personal business?

Find one that's unpolished. You want those lugs and case profile to retain their factory shape and form. Nothing is worse than an over-polished watch.

That’s good advice. Just ask Patrick if it’s been polished. He listed it as mint, and has a great reputation, but ask him anyway.

The main difference between the 116613LN models from 2016 and 2009 lies in the minor updates Rolex makes over the years, including improvements in materials and slight design tweaks. However, since both are in excellent condition, the price difference might be due to the market demand or specific dealer pricing.

One thing to consider is the service history and warranty status of each watch. A more recent model might have some warranty left, which can be valuable. Since this is your first Rolex, choosing the one that appeals most to you personally and comes from a dealer you trust is important.

Not saying a polished modern watch is bad, not saying Patrick aka OCwatch guy is bad, but I am saying they generally polish their watches and often it's not great. I would not base my purchases from them based on how they classify condition. Judge for yourself, and pay according to actual condition.

I noticed he has one listed in the classifieds here, a 2019, for less than those two, and unpolished. Note: OCRolexGuy and OCWatchGuy are the same person. Check in our classified section here. It looks to be in excellent condition, costs less and is newer than the two you have found.

I have more than 10 transactions with Patrick….. OC Watch Guy. Each and everyone was perfect. Watches just as described. Speak to him directly. I live close, so able to see watches in person. Top 3 TS here.

Me, too. Not sure what’s up with a few here questioning/making weird vague statements. Patrick has a brick and mortar store, here in CA, an EBay watch store, and a huge online presence with a stellar reputation. As I stated in my first post to you, no worries dealing with him.

Kat, I think you should be careful giving open endorsements. He is good on the buy and sell side but that still requires a buyer being careful. Link below to a watch the is not only not "very good" it's over polished and far from factory lines. People see your high post count and will follow your advice. I believe you mean well but it's worth the note of caution.

I just try to be helpful and give advice based on my experience, but if I’ve broken a rule, by recommending one of our trusted Boutique Sellers, I apologize.
