Love for 40mm explorer

I just tried on 36mm and 40mm and despite having a small wrist (6.7"), I prefer the look of the 40mm. Obviously it is all personal taste.

I don't see many posts her on the explorer as a purchase (many on it as a reference). Just wondered for those that have the 40mm, how are you enjoying it ?

My wrist is 6.5" and 40-42mm is my Rolex sweet spot. My wife has a 36mm OP and it's just not visually in balance to my eyes if I try it on. It could be that I'm simply not acclimatized to a smaller size but I've always been more comfortable with watches in the 40-45mm range.

It depends on the design of the case and the lugs in particular. I've got a 45mm Omega which wears like a 40mm Rolex and a 43mm Tag Heuer which looks huge, weighs a lot but balances nicely on my wrist physically and visually. Case thickness and weight doesn't bother me so much although I'm sure I have weight and thickness limits, I just haven't found them yet.

I agree, lug to lug is the crucial measurement. I find that contrary to popular opinion, if the lug to lug is too small, the watch slides around on my wrist all day and is annoying to wear. this is why I got rid of my Tudor BB 36mm.

On the other hand, if the lug to lug goes over the edges of the wrist, it doesn't wear well at all.

So i am looking for a lug-to-lug which basically fall a few mm short of the edges of my wrist either side, but doesn't get to more then say 5-10mm.

Why I like the IWC Pilot 40mm, my 41mm Seiko speedtimer and why I loved the explorer 40mm when I tried it on, and also why I love my 41mm DJ :)

I picked mine up last month and love wearing it. It's very understated and great as an everyday watch.

The 36 has such history and I really wanted to like it for so many reason but could not get past the size. The 40 just felt and looked better to me. Personally I spent way too much time looking into this haha. 40 is my sweet sport with most all watches and I stopped straying from that. 6.75 wrist
Good luck in your quest, the 40mm will not disappoint has been on over 50 days which is not normal for me. Just feels so right.

I have the 40mm and I love the 40mm - If fits my wrist perfectly. My wife has the 36mm and fits her tiny wrist very well.

I think people keep themselves from sharing pictures of their 40s because of how those threads end up.

Once a single "purist" gets wind of the thread and drops a comment on how the 36 is the real deal, the mob mentality ensues and suddenly you're a fool for purchasing a 40.

I've been debating the 36 exp vs. the 40 and finally got to try on the 40. Unfortunately for me, neither seemed right on my wrist. I was a bit surprised at how small the 40 looked on my wrist in comparison to the photos I see online.

I've own the 36 and the 40. I love the larger dial, more lume. Love the bracelet of the 36 more, but the larger size of the watch just feels right given every other watch I have is 39 or larger.

I have an explorer 40mm and I find it very comfortable and enjoy wearing it on a regular basis, I initially asked about a 36mm but when the 40mm came out I tried one on and immediately change my registration of interest,
