What would a reasonable trade be?

All, looking for your expertise here. I have 2 Rolex’s and looking at possible trade options. I am the original owner of a 16710 GMT II with an extra bezel ring, original black insert, new pepsi insert, and new unopened coke insert. Also a 116710BLNR GMT II. The 5 digit has been factory serviced once with no polish, the BLNR never serviced. Both have full box sets and receipts. I’m considering either a Patek Philippe Calatrava 5524G Pilot Travel Time , an Audemar Royal Oak, or an ALS (unsure of what model). I’d like a daily wearer and something not flashy obviously. Big question is will I regret a swap like this? And will I be able to come out on top or am I losing money overall. And if there is more to consider please let me know.

Patek, travel time maybe .. can you add money to it ? If you can I’d go slightly higher in the PP range …

Daily wear eliminates the Patek due to no real waterproofing. The others vary as you're not sure which ALS. VC is also an option, tho i'd look at an H. Moser Streamliner as a daily.

Personally, keep what you have.

You now have two great watches, both are watches for which there is no substitute or comparable replacement. I don’t know about the net financial gain or loss, and you can’t know about regrets unless you pull the trigger, but given that you have several watches under consideration, none of which seems to be a must have, I’d sit tight.

Keep the 16710.

If you’re itching for a new watch, then consider trading the other towards a SS VC 4500 / 4520 or a PP 6119.

I would not trade the 5-digit.

Trade the 6-digit and add cash.

There's only one person who can answer that question and you've already met him/her.

Exactly this! The 16710 is a keeper and even more as you are the first owner and unpolished.

Personally, I'd keep the 5 digit GMT and move the BLNR towards something else.

I'd stick, I certainly would not trade.

The fact that you are having to ask suggests that you are not keen on the trade.

On a personal note I might trade the 116710 + money for something else, the 16710 is a bit more unique with the extra bezels I would be keeping that.

Any of these have all the warning signs of a trade, which would ultimately lead to regret.

Speaking for myself I would keep what you have now,not a fan of any of the RO range as for Patek well depends if you want to wear the name, although good movements for daily wearing not so tough as Rolex.

I don’t think you are trading up. Value wise yes but aesthetically not

I’d rather trade into what you have than trade out of it. Especially that 16710 - hard to find one now that you know without doubt has been looked after.

In some ways, it’s irreplaceable.

If you don’t wear these and aren’t attached to them, then I agree to move them.
But id wait to find something you really want.

If at all possible, add the next one and let it settle in to your collection. Take some time to decide if one or two must go.

This is how to avoid potential regrets

I would not trade what you have for what you have brough forward. You have two special watches and watches that are very robust and wearable every day. Not saying that the other brands are not nice but you would want to be further up the chain on models before it would even be a consideration. Why not figure out what kind of watch you want and see if there is a model from JLC, Omega, GO or another that can be had in the secondary market that will scratch the itch without having to trade what you have.

You're asking the wrong question. Instead of asking what a reasonable trade would be, think instead of what you want in your collection end state, best case scenario.

If that includes losing arguably two of the best 5 and 6 digit reference Rolex GMT's, well, then there's your answer.

It wouldn't be for me, I can tell you that.
