Panda daytona or blue sky dweller

Considering trading in the root beer for panda daytona or blue skydweller. I tend to like 41-43mm watches (i know the panda is 40.) I have a few other watches non rolex but rolex I have bluesy, bat girl, rootbeer and explorer 2 white dial. Not sure I need 2 tu tone watches and I like the batgirl better than the rootbeer as far as the gmts go. Trying to diversify a bit. What do you all think?

Super tough call. Just picked this up yesterday. I also have a black Daytona. They both wear so different. Have you tried both? Thoughts? Impressions?

Really depends on your taste and needs. I have the Blue Sky D on Jubilee and it is stunning in my opinion. I also have a SD43 for more casual wear in a two watch collection. I used to have a bunch of other watches as well and have decided to simplify life and only keep these two along with an Apple Watch. For me the Daytona just wears too small for my wrist and stature, plus the complications are not very useful in everyday use.

That's an amazing picture! I haven't thought that much about a Skydweller honestly but that might need to change.

On the surface I would have said a Panda easily!

I have both and consider them a must-have. I would grab whichever one presents the best deal at the time in your favor, then go after the other one.
Good luck, and looking forward to your incoming pics!

If you like larger watches the Daytona may not be for you

Tough call. To change it up, the Daytona may be the right fit. The sky dweller is awesome too. I got both so I wouldn't have to struggle mentally.

given your collection, consider waiting and saving for a DD40. Its really a PM that you need (or PM daytona, SkyD, etc)

FWIW, I've seen more white dial Daytonas in the wild than blue dial Skys. I guess technically an infinite margin since I've seen zero blue Skys.

Me personally I'd go Daytona. I slightly like the aesthetics of the Sky better and the usefulness is much better considering the complications.

But it's just way too noticeable of a watch for me to feel comfortable wearing. Big, bold, and some models have 3 of the most characteristic Rolex traits - Jubilee, Fluted, Cyclops.

I don't see a lot of them in the wild, but when I do, they definitely catch my eyes like few other watches. But you might like that aspect. I definitely wouldn't.

The Sky is just too darn big. It just looked out of proportion when I tried one on. A 38 or 39mm sky would’ve been perfect. I actually like the watch, especially in blue. That said, I’m not a fan of big watches.

Panda Daytona would be my pick. Wears a bit small for it's 40mm size, but the proportions are near perfect. The SkyD blue dial is a beautiful watch. The sunburst blue dial is mesmerizing and the complication is useful. That being said, the SkyD is a large top heavy watch. I owned the blue ss version since it came out for years. My taste has evolved over the years and I found myself not wearing it at all due to it's size, so I moved on from it this year.

If you prefer 41-43mm definitely go with the Sky-d…it’s a great watch if the size works for you.

The Daytona in comparison will feel small…it wears smaller than its size suggests too.

I can't tell you which one you like more. The Sky Dweller would be a no brainer for me because I love it and I don't like the Daytona. You do you. They are so different in appearance, size and complications that if you can't pick a winner you will probably end up owning both in the fullness of time.

Of the two options I would go Skydweller, and saying this owning a white ceramic Daytona.

I really like the panda. ? However I like even better also knowing what the date is then the extra benefit of having the second time zone on the sky-dweller knowing that it's the most complicated movement that Rolex makes plus the little red square that tells you what month it is. And it seems like the blue dial is one of the most sought after colors out there. I'm a little different from you in that I don't sell or trade I buy I keep and I add to my collection as time goes by. For me it's really rewarding to look back on the watches that I've purchased for instance the two milgausses the one black dial and the one blue dial I really enjoy looking at them and having them on my wrist whenever I want.

This.

The Daytona wears very small in my experience.
Much prefer the sky-dweller (and blue is flawless)

Daytona if you have small-ish wrists, skydweller if your wrist can handle it. Hype apart, i think the skydweller is the more useful watch but for me, i prefer the daytona.

As most have said, you need to try them on, they are very different, one will appeal to you more than the other straight away.

I have a 116520 white dial and a Sky blue oyster.

They wear so differently it’s actually odd that they appear together in a lot of people’s collections.

My 116520 is sized for my wife now, she wears it occasionally, Daytonas really are tiny, why they haven’t evolved over the years to a true 41-42mm I don’t really understand.

I know they claim 40mm, but they measure less and wear like a 38mm, that just feels too small for me now, my tastes have changed.

And then there is the no date issue, which may or may not be important to you, I find it an issue.

Equally though, I would understand anyone who liked the feel of a small watch and loves the Daytona feeling the Sky wears like a brick, so each to their own preferences!

The Daytona is 38.5 mm and is too small for my tastes and is difficult to read. The Sky-Dweller is a full size watch and if you have the wrists to pull it off then that is the one for me. I prefer Jubilee but Oyster is nice also. There is also a price difference between the two watches.

Which look and complication do you prefer? One watch is and wears so much larger than the other, the choice should be clear, I would think.

Panda all the way if it’s a 126500 that wears bigger than the 116500. If 116500 I would say SkyD as you want a big watch.
