Incoming OP 36 Tiffany (4+ yr wait)

Wow my ad texted me on friday after 9 months since my last watch (116900 panda; my ad has a 2 watch/yr limit) vs i regularly received watches ~6 months the previous 4 years. I almost gave up hope of ever receiving this watch and went grey market to buy either a 31 or 36 for my wife's upcoming bday in 3 weeks. I don't know if we got lucky or things are slowing down but i usually am bundled with 3k-10k additional spend at the time of purchase. I asked and she said its on the house no additional spend so i just stfu and said no more & sent my wife and kid to the ad (they were already at that shopping mall), used my amex for the $75 ben bridge bonus offer. If anyone keeping track ive spent ~150k in the 4 years but this ad has given every single item on my wish list except blue skydweller. I'm positive i'll be getting that as well at some point but its a bit big on my wrist so when it comes it comes and if it doesn't its been a fun 4 year ride

Congrats! Post a pic.

Surprised you've had to bundle prior purchases, and the AD said "this one is on the house." I guess selling watches at full MSRP with no additional hoops is a favor nowadays?

Exactly what I was thinking. What a strange world when paying full retail for something is considered "on the house"! The world we live in guess.

What an odd thing for the AD to say. I have it on good authority that Rolex is against the practice of ADs making you buy other things to get an allocation. It could even be the reason that so many are losing their status. Shame on your AD. Glad you got your watch, though. Congrats.

After spending $150k+ you’d think a simple OP would actually be “on the house”.

That’s a great watch. Interesting how difficult it is in some locations and others are willing to get you one. Must be demand and the AD assessing your potential future spending capabilities.

Authorized Dealers are SCUM. I had a lifelong dear friend make a referral for me to an AD whom he has known for 20 years. The guy called me, and I was super encouraged until we actually spoke and he said he can’t possibly help me because I had no purchase history with him.

I asked straight up, what does that mean exactly I was just referred to him and his store, so I was really confused….

He said I needed to spend at least 200k at his store on jewelry before he can allocate me a Rolex.

And because my buddy is a great guy, he sent me the text he got after the referral. I share for your entertainment!

Names are redacted….

So you came in and asked for four Rolexes off the bat?
What watches were they?

No, did you read my post?

I was referred directly to the owner of the store for a very specific purpose. We spoke for 15 minutes and I told him about my family, the milestones I wanted to commemorate, and what I thought would be good choices from Rolex to do so. He wasn’t interested in taking me as a customer, period. I wasn’t going to buy ungodly amounts of jewelry.

Yeah, I read it. From the text message it looks like the SA was at least under the impression that you asked for four watches. Did he make that up out of thin air?

So I’m curious what they were. Because if you came in with zero history in the store asking for four SS Daytonas or something similar, then I can see that reaction.

They were sky-dwellers and DJ41s. And I absolutely asked for 4 and took him through the milestones over the next two years that I was commemorating. Just because he neglected to put that into the text back to our mutual friend is nothing I can control.

But I did tell him in closing the call, that I would never, ever, ever come to him with my business on any level, ever, after hearing his conditions and getting a sense for the kind of guy he is! I literally told him I have no intention of buying $250,000 in jewelry unnecessarily to get a history with him, and asking me to do so for the priveldge of buying some watches over the next two years is, frankly, insulting.

And just to put a finer point on it. I went to Geary’s Santa Monica and spoke with the Manager and Assistant manager, they were amazing! They said 100%, no problem to lay this out and get four watches over two years! They were happy to have my business and a new customer.

So happy ending frankly. The Assistant Manager has already called me as a follow up to get more details about my kids and recommend doing some engraving while we’re at it!

So, yeah, F that AD. Total scum.

I used to feel that way and was actually very upset the very first time that happened. I went ahead and bought my blnr and never enjoyed it so i sold it off within a year. Then I changed my perspective that I would rather have them offer me the watch with a bundle offer where I could decline (i negotiated once) vs never being offered the watch at all.

Oh man i am 4.5 yrs in with my AD and have never been offered a skydweller. Geary's is nice and courteous, my wife works near the BH location but in 4.5 yrs they have never called to offer a single watch

Congrats, hope she enjoys it and wears it in good health.

As long as you are buying things you would have bought anyways that’s fine. They are taking care of you and you are supporting them, nothing wrong with that.
Now when I’m expected to buy this to get that. I’m not going to play those games.
It happened to me twice in day , not at Rolex.

Cheers,

Huge congratulations to you and your wife! Interesting to me how happy and pleased with the arrangement you are, picking up two highly desirable Rolex models in a short time, while others criticize the relationship with your AD. Many threads discuss the inability to score top tier pieces, but almost all concede the need today for some type of “relationship” (whatever that may be). You have one and you’re hitting home runs. They aren’t all just for you either. You’re spreading the love and living now. Cool.

Odd for your AD to say "on the house" when you're dropping thousands of dollars.

Delighted that you have your watch, I'd be looking for another AD if mine told me to spend more just to get a watch.

Buy only what you want and don't play AD games, it's only a watch.

He needs the 2 years to save up more ransom money.
