YG DD36 vs WG DD41 - Opinions Wanted!

Good morning! I’ll start by saying I’m fully aware opinions are worth less than a leftover pizza but I still love to have those from this community.

I have an opportunity to expand my collection with one of these two pieces from my local AD. Which do you all think looks better/classier? Which is more universal? I am 40 y/o finance executive, so I would like a style that will last many generations.

Thank you in advance.

I prefer the DD 36. I am not a fan of the DDII (41mm) proportions

I generally prefer white gold over yellow gold. Less flashy.

As for size, whatever fits your wrist better. What's your wrist size?

And when you say DD41 are you talking bout the current Day Date 40 or the previous Day Date II?

I think the 40mm's look and fit better, plus I like WG more than YG, so that would be my choice.

thats a DD40, not a 41.

And secondly, get the 36mm yellow gold. Much better looking watch

Day date in YG with a white or silver dial, in 40 or 36 mm whichever you like more.

The WG DD40 all the way. Soooooooo much more versatile than a yellow gold 36mm piece in my opinion. That WG could be worn just as comfortably at the ballgame on the weekend as it could in the office during the week.

The newest Day Date - it’s the 40. I’m a moron. Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate you.

36mm all day long, but I wouldn't personally pick one with diamonds unless it's baguettes.

36 is much classier and far better proportions than a DD40.

FWIW, we are the same age.

WG for sure. IMO full gold is hard to pull off, especially if you work in finance and are under 60 years old. The diamonds and gold together are probably too blingy

I'd go YG, but if possible--get the new one with the deconstructed numerals; it looks incredible. White dial makes that configuration even better, but champagne is also quite nice.

The diamonds are a bit much in my opinion, unless that matches your personality.

DD36 also looks like a better size on you, but you definitely could pull off the DD40 if you prefer the size and weight.

Any time I've tried on the WG Day-Date, I've been underwhelmed. The platinum DD on the other hand--it's incredible, but I don't know how much of that is the dial and the additional weight. WG ones just feel like a Datejust, even though it's got the presidential bracelet.

TBH, do not love either one of these on your wrist. The diamonds on the YG don't seem to suit it (and I love diamonds) and the WG washes out on you. I think you ought to consider a YG 40mm - or a 36 without those diamonds.

WG DayDate 40. (Black or Olive dial)

OR

YG DayDate 40 with the white dial.

Don't get a 36mm.

I noticed in one of the photos you have a fairly wide wedding band, is that in yellow gold? Assuming that is something you wear perpetually. I do feel the yellow gold goes well with that. 36mm is the classic day date size IMO. Great options, good luck.

I’d ask first, before giving an opinion ….do you have any other pieces?

so I would like a style that will last many generations.

Sort of the definition of a YG DD 36.
I think it fits your wrist better than the larger watch.

Personally, I'd go sticks for a classic and more versatile look.

Let us know what you decide

YG DD36 vs WG DD41 - Opinions Wanted!

Both great watches - both the 40 and 36 look good on your wrist in these pics.

If you’re comfortable wearing a full YG DD, it’s an incredible watch and more versatile than you might expect. Definitely not an under-the-radar watch.

The full WG is a stunner as well, and maybe a better option for you if you feel uncomfortable with the full YG.

Depending on what other pieces you own, the YG might be a nice option if you currently have other ss pieces in the regular rotation.

I will say that I tend to lean towards sticks/baton dials for more diversity; Romans for a more dressy look. YMMV.

Enjoy the decision making process - can’t go wrong with either watch, IMO.

If you're looking for timeless, classy, and elegant, the WG is the choice between those two. Honestly, t's nearly impossible to overstate how gauche the YG/Champagne/Diamond is, IMO.

+1

YG will draw far more attention. It comes down to whether you are OK with that or not. If it was me, I’d be looking at a WG 36 as I’m not a YG type of guy and I like the proportions a lot better as I don’t have large wrists.
