Unexpected AD Call....

Strange how things happen sometimes when you least expect it. I had my 1680 Sub Date serviced through this AD (thats my history), but the Sales Rep and I sort of hit it off and had a good conversation about the old watch days compared to today.

Anyway, last year I got a call about a Sea Dweller that just came in (perhaps buyer changed their mind) and asked if I was interested, I declined as IMHO its just a bigger version of my SUB

So this week out of the blue I get the same call about an Air King. Wasn't a fan of the previous one as its based on the Milgauss and was a bit top heavy to me. But the revised one is lighter (no iron faraday cage) and not as tall so very comfortable to wear all day every day and I like the changes to the dial. So I decided to take him up on his offer. I really like the simplicity and "under the radar" wearability although the green Rolex sort of pops in the sun.

Very cool! I also like the less "blingy" models, enjoy it!

Although I didn’t buy one, the previous Air King got me looking again at Rolex after a six year absence. I like its simplicity with a pop of color.

Great watches the Airking it's one of the longest productive watches since the 1940s and very underrated by many today. But like all ADs they are in business for one thing only that's to sell watches, enjoy your new Rolex wear it in good health for many years to come.

Nice.

Just to clarify. You weren't on any "list" for this AK? It was a cold call from your AD asking if you wanted it?

I really like the updates to this model, especially the crown guards.

Congrats!

Congrats. I've always loved the AK. I keep trying it on but just a bit too big for my wrist. Seems to wear a bit larger than the GMT II on me

that is correct, its not a "desired" model, so it may be one of those things where Rolex requires AD to accept and sale all models not just orders...

I have a GMT II, and I would say it feels and wears smaller, since it is thinner and not as heavy, I have a 7.5 inch wrist

Which makes me feel even "losier" considering it's one of two models for which I've expressed interest.

Maybe it wasn't a great idea to sleep with the AD's wife after all.

(audible sigh).

At least I can vicariously live through your pics, looks dang good on your wrist.

I like the changes they made to this newer reference AK over the previous one.
