Being offered a White Gold Daytona-take it or pass?

Thoughts team? Take it and build goodwill with AD or pass and wait for Yellow Gold or Platinum?

If it’s not what you want to own and wear, I’d pass

This. If the piece is not one you really want, leave it for someone else who'll keep and enjoy it.

You might change your mind about the WG vs YG and give it a try,
I like the WG Daytona regardless which dial better than any of the YG

Buy the watch you want, not because they offer you something.

maybe check the "WTB" section on here and see if there are any recent posts for someone wanting to buy one, and then coordinate with them (and vet them) to find out how serious a buyer they are? and if they're serious, maybe buy the watch, sell it to them for exactly what ya paid for it (+ taxes)? that way, you help out a fellow forum member, AND you gain a little bit of spend history with your AD.

YMMV.

Based on my past experiences, I would pick it up if it’s a model I can get out of unscathed. There’s simply no guarantee that they will have those two of them at the time you want.

Don’t buy something you don’t want just to keep your AD happy

If they're offering a white-gold Daytona, then you don't need to build-up any good will to be offered a yellow-gold Daytona. In fact, taking a white-gold might bump you a little further down the list for a yellow-gold (they might have a one-gold-Daytona-per-year-per-client policy). Just pass and wait.

Platinum is another matter.

A lot of money to build goodwill, if you don't want the watch.

You would have bought it if you wanted it.

As everyone else has said, it makes no sense to buy something you don’t want. If you like it, buy it. The fact that you’re coming here to ask, is a pretty good indicator that you are not in love with the watch, so I would personally pass.

Go in and look at it in the metal. Then decide.

Buy what you want. Go see it in the metal, and if it doesn't grab you then pass

That is a big boy piece? Make sure it is something you want and are going to wear it.
Since we are not talking Rolex OP money. A watch you are going to enjoy.

The WG Daytona is a beautiful piece especially the ghost dial on oyster flex or the full bracelet, For me it would depend on the dial?

Cheers,

Love white gold Daytonas, but if I had to ask whether to buy I would PASS.

True... well kinda. It's a lot of money to most people. Myself included.

But you you have the extra money, why not go for it? Hard to go wrong with a Rolex from an AD.
