Thanks for posting that, though it made me cry. My son in law enlisted in the Army several years later, and sadly, was KIA, in Afghanistan, on 03/04/2010, leaving behind my daughter and 3 children, all still in diapers. Never forget, indeed!

Thank you for posting this video, it's extremely moving.

We all owe an eternal debt of gratitude to every one of those brave men and women who have served our country whether in uniform or not, and/or paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Thank you, everyone. Every Memorial Day I accompany my husband to our local cemetery, where he does a dove release to honor all of our fallen, as part of our town’s celebration, and I release, from my hands, a single white dove and shout out loud, “”For Tony!” Then John releases several dozen, all at once, to honor all of our fallen. I will continue to do that, for the rest of my life. The saddest part to me is that his children don’t remember him. They have of course, seen pics and heard stories. Tony is buried, at Arlington, in section 60, which made the news recently.

Kat both your posts brought tears to my eyes. I have been to Arlington many times for different reasons including placing wreaths with Wreaths Across America. Which I have done for the last nine years and will continue to do so for as long as I can. Though recently I have been attending the WAA ceremony at the USNA where my step father graduated and is buried. Yours along with John's dove release ceremony is also a wonderful tribute to Tony and all to our fallen. God bless our troops!

The video was an outstanding find - thank you for sharing. Kat - thanks to you and your family for their ultimate sacrifice. I have several folks in my life who have lost loved ones who died in defense of my freedom. “Thank You” seems not enough but I feel it just the same.

Let’s Roll - A Hero’s Rolex Frozen in Time on 9-11

I had heard of Todd Beamer, of course - but not all the details surrounding his watch. The next few days will be fraught with more reminders of 9|11. Many of us have our own memories seared into our mind's synapses.

For those who would like to know more about Mr. Beamer see: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Beamer

I noted something in the "Popular Culture" section of that Wiki: the story behind the Rolex isn't documented. What an interesting point to add if Rolex was so inclined. I would imagine they could trace it back to the day a Swiss watchmaker put the empty midcase onto its holder and the entire process which led to eventually being on Beamer's wrist that fateful morning.

In a totally unrelated yet ironic note, I just acquired a TOG earlier this Summer but with a white dial - ironically it is the lead watch in today's WRUW.

Shanksville is the only 9/11 memorial I've seen, and they did an incredible job putting it together.

I thought that watch was on display in Shanksville, maybe there was just a reference to the story and owner, I don't remember but according to the video it's in NYC. It's amazing there were any artifacts, personal belongings, etc. that survived that crash and are recognizable.

Wow very touching story! I was one of the lucky ones that was able to escape the atrocities the terrorists caused when they slammed into the World trade Center on 9-11. I could not watch any videos or read any stories about 9-11 for more than 10 years after. There were many heroes on that day and for many years after.
