I'm not a golfer but why not just wear the watch while you play golf?

Bro its not comfortable to play sport with a Rolex or other watch on your wrist.

You could ask why don't MLB players wear watches, well they do wear gold and diamond encrusted necklaces but you don't see anyone wearing a watch while playing.

Although Aaron Judge has been seen to be wearing several different Rolex models after the game in the locker room post match interviews.

Swinging a golf club or a bat without a wrist watch allows you to focus and direct the club or bat with more unencumbered feeling towards your ball.

As a golfer, I would never wear a watch while playing. Would just find it incredibly uncomfortable and weird feeling, gotta have good free range of movement in the wrist. Always take mine off when I play. I could probably get by with something on a strap but never a bracelet.

I’m a very low handicap(excellent)golfer.
When I was competitive, the watch was in the bag.
Now, I’ve adjusted to playing with any/every watch with no hesitation.
Worst part of the whole thing? Watch arm tan.

I don't take my watches off for any activity. Golf, Duck hunting, or chopping wood with an ax. So after decades of this, I don't even feel the watch on my wrist anymore.

I’m definitely in the “I don’t wear a watch when I exercise” camp. Exercise for me was squash, golf and tennis mostly. Wearing a watch for those activities just felt weird

I grew up at the country club as a kid.
A lot of golf at the club is being seen and has little to do with the actual game of golf. The tee off times and particular day of the week is very diverse on the level of golf you will see being played and why they are playing.

Over the last 3-4 years I have gotten accustomed to wearing a watch while I play. Do not even notice anymore.

I've put mine in my bag a couple time when playing and often wonder if one day I'll forget it in there or lose it or will get it stolen. Need to be careful. I wear a Garmin golf watch when playing and I really like it. I'm not good enough for the watch to interfere with my golf swing LOL.

I didn't wear watches playing basketball or football....but I always wore my watch when golfing....Just like hunting, mowing, shooting, weekending, etc....I just don't notice em.

However leather is much better to play with than SS or PM.

When playing at my home club I leave it in my locked locker. When playing an away round it stays on my wrist until I'm on the first tee. It's in one of the bag pockets until I putt out on 18 then it's back on my wrist.

I wear a watch, usually a Rolex, to the course then switch to my Garmin golf watch when I’m ready to play. I put my watch in a crown royal felt bag and stuff it in my golf bag while I play. After golf I switch back to my Rolex. My car keys and phone stay in my bag too even if I play at a private club.

I don't wear mine while playing. I shoot in the 110s. That's way too much stress on my watches

He probably did it for the same reason elite-level tennis players do: their watch sponsor pays them to. Ever see Serena in her custom Royal Oak on the court? I doubt she does it just to check the time.

Crazy, just the other day while golfing with some buddies, I put my WG GMT in my bag as I was playing. We then stopped in the clubhouse for a drink to grab to finish the round. I went in my bag to grab the WG GMT and one of the guys started to laugh as this club is one of the most prestigious in the area, which is a private course and says you do not have to worry about people going through your bag to find your Rolex. Well well well. Guess who I forwarded this video to.

I was quite surprised at the number of athletes, specifically in track and field who were wearing watches, during the 2024 Olympics. Sponsored of course by Omega.

I myself wouldn't take my watch off during golf but my experience is limited to Top Golf. Certainly not an expert!

Before watching the video, I was expecting the thief robbing golfer via knife point while on the course or parking lot... Not expecting a thief simply casually walking around and rummaging through unsuspecting golfers' bags..

If your watch or valuables gets stolen by this means of thievery... I hate to say it... You sorta deserve it... It's like you crying wolf that your car was stolen off your driveway.. But you left the windows wide open and keys still in the ignition..

Why would you even do that? In this case, why would you leave your personal belongings unsecured? Either you hide it in the car (without anyone knowing) or leave it at home... Commone sense goes a LONG way... smh

I agree, I wouldn't wear a watch playing.

But growing up (I learn't to play golf with my dad at 7), I played very competitively until I was 16.

At the time I wore a watch, a citizen and the crown left a scar on my hand, still very faintly visible to this day.

I was so particular about the weight of my backswing I swapped it to my right wrist, which I why I wear my watches there most of the time now. (The crown pointed upwards).

I no longer play golf, I wish I had persevered as I was told by more than 1 person I could have turned pro.

But generally, dont wear your watch or take it with you.

Very few PGA players wear any wrist jewelry while playing. I do believe they are required to wear a Rolex when doing post round interviews and when hoisting trophies. Rolex is a huge Tour sponsor. It is always fun to spot what model the players are wearing when they are done with their round. I’ve always wondered if they get to choose which watch to wear, or if a Rolex rep chooses. Or if they are allowed to wear their own Rolex if they have one. (Most tour players do) The only exception I’ve seen is when Victor Hovland won. He is sponsored by AP. I wonder if he had to pay a fine?

Most PGA players wear their watches AFTER their rounds is because of sponsorship duties. The watches that you see when players are being interviewed, they're usually the most recent and hard to get pieces. But I am sure the players have a bunch that they can choose from. I know Tiger always wore the SDDS. And only a handful that i know would actually wear them while playing a professional round. Phil Mickelson would always be seen wearing one of his Rolex. Rory was seen wearing an ultra light/thin titanium Omega Aqua Terra while on the course. But I think it had more so do with Omega's marketing of the actual watch. Than Rory actually prefer to wear a watch while playing...

Most of these guys will wear their smart devices instead, such as Whoop.
