Pepsi - to bundle or not
Sadly my AD shut down last year. I had a reasonable spend with them (few DJs, Ladies DJ, LV Sub).
I have an itch for a BLRO Sub, but of course with no history I am starting again. I am also planning on buying a Omega Soeedmaster as a business gift (all above board with taxed income). So I have been thinking should I buy it new from my local AD (Goldsmiths in the UK), and hope it will help with a BLRO, or just go grey using the saving on the Omega to take the sting out of the grey BLRO? I don’t flip or trade watches so just want the option in the future to buy the watches I like from an AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think you meant BLRO GMT… You’re like me, thinking about so many watches, they all get jumbled in your head. lol
Tough first ask, and I’m not sure buying a Speedy will help (especially the white dial). You gotta start somewhere though. I think the most important part will be building rapport with a SA who is somewhat understanding of then pitfalls of losing an AD. Once you have a SA gunning for you, the harder allocations become feasible, even without a lot of spend history. I’d hate to spend double retail on a piece that isn’t coming down anytime soon, but it is a wonderful watch. |

Authorised dealers are struggling to sell watches now, the dynamic has totally changed and I don’t think it’ll ever go back. I wouldn’t bother with an AD at this point unless you have a long standing relationship - just go and buy it :)

It doesn't help either that you have chosen the 2nd hardest to get Stainless Steel reference after the Stainless Daytona's. Better check with Goldsmiths before you go down the rabbit hole of bundling.

Is that so? |

If you can justify the gray price, I’d buy it. You won’t get one at an AD any time soon

In the US, a gray BLRO is around $20k. A $9k premium over the AD. Maybe suggest you’ll buy $5k worth of hard to move stuff from the AD and make a bundle that way?

I don't think a Speedmaster master is enough to get a GMT.

Despite the watch market not being as strong as it was I don' think any Goldsmiths in London would entertain offering you a Pepsi as your first Rolex with them
Buying an Omega would help with a long term relationship but I don't think it would change anything in short term |

Perhaps worth looking at a 16700 or 16710

No point in trying to second guess one AD - they chop and change all the time, but it's worth a conversation with a few ADs. You will have to wait for one. If you have the money and won't miss it you can have one this week. I love my SS BLRO but I wouldn't pay the grey premium for one.Your money, your life, your call.

Op, GMT with no purchase history is impossible in the US, especially a Pepsi or even any GMT. But I’m not familiar with UK ADs, give it a try you lose nothing but time.
There are a few ADs in the UK. Either way there will be a wait, quite a but I’d imagine. Goldsmith’s and another can’t remember the name right now? Try them both. Happy hunting, Cheers, |

Playing AD games with zero guarantees doesn’t work for me.
Just buy grey, have it tomorrow and start enjoying it. Life is short

Agree. Don't buy what you don't want (the speedy 100% won't be enough anyway). You'll be spending a crap ton more at the AD on stuff you don't need than if you just bought it gray.

Pepsi - to bundle or not
Been in the same boat.
I’d suggest buying both the GMT and Speedmaster from a trusted seller. You can probably negotiate a small discount together, so you’ll get the Speedy under MSRP and the GMT under current Grey market prices (not much but some). Would not waste precious time and money trying to buy from an AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would hang tight. As others have mentioned prices on used market are coming down. Paying 9k over list for a used watch is crazy.

If you're ok with the price, just go gray and avoid the guessing games.

Bundling is a way for AD's to move other merchandise with the promise of a brighter day down the road. Don't do it without a specific date of delivery. You will be better off both on the time wait and money not to buy watches you do not want to try to get to what you do want. Buy from a reputable secondary seller, pay, and have the watch today or tomorrow and go on with it. Just the time and aggravation of playing games is enough to make me buy form the Trusted Sellers. Great watch choice though.

If you really want the BLRO, I suggest you buy it in the secondary market as suggested. The premium is tough to swallow but getting it from an AD is very difficult as new customer.

Got mine from Davidsw after playing AD games for six years. Paying secondary was cheaper than buying a bunch of stuff I don’t want plus the 9.25% sales tax on it all.

As others have said, the BLRO is one of the most difficult to acquire SS pieces.
Throw your name in the hat at your local AD. Buy the things you want. Nothing extra. Relationship outweighs spend at a great AD. |

Except the relationship is spend.

An Omega to bundle for a BLRO?! Never ever! All my sources here in switzerland tell me, that these days the BLRO is harder to get than a Daytona as there were practically no deliveries of the BLRO last year and still only very few.
