Old vs New Daytona Pikachu?
Considering a Pikachu but I have only seen the older version in the flesh. For those of you who have seen both in the real life, do you have any preference? Leaning towards the older model with the black trim around the hour markers but hoping to the see the newer one in person at some point. Unfortunately, my local AD doesn't have any on display.

I like both but prefer the newer version.
Older is more sporty and newer dressier. You’re winning with either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think he referring to people giving watches silly nicknames and then others asking the AD for the watch using the nickname instead of the reference number

Don’t be bothered with these comments. They tried acting “above” a silly nickname, by being a child. We have these idiots at work too. Voting 11 series. I like the bigger hour makers over new Ozempic version. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

12 series case fit with the glidelock, although I like that red writing on the dial and black markers on the 11 series. The 12 very hard to get from the AD as difficult as the Panda. Some of us have gotten lucky through.
Either or they both have pros, like I always say there is no such thing as a bad Daytona. Happy Hunting! |

What do you mean by 12 series case? I bet you wouldn’t be able to tell the cases apart from each other. I have 116518 Paul Newman and my wife has 126515 black with sun dust subs. Cases are identical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The older one looks better in pictures. I really like it but I prefer the new one in person. Then new one looks more modern while the older one imo looks more dated.
The glide lock is a game changer. Watches are meant to be worn. I could never get a perfect fit with the old model. The glidelock takes this watch to the next level. Another thing that isn’t talked about is the dial. It’s lighter and catches the light better. The shade also matches the polished part of the watch. The watch flows much better inmo. It’s a little tweak that you can’t see in pictures well but it makes a big difference. It’s a golden dial. The old dial is champagne which is darker. The black sub dials pop more off if the new version. The 126518 imo is the modern take on the 6263. If you can get the 126518 I would say get it. Especially at retail. I prefer the 116518 Pikachu, but if you can get the 126518 from your AD, jump on it!

Emphasize the first syllable and you'll be near enough

The black rims to the indices are key. They make the older dial busier. I think with the new version, the indices seem a little washed-out: if you squint, you'd think the subdials were alone on a flat dial. Whereas with the older version, the subdials are somehow more integrated because they share their contrast with the indices. So I slightly prefer the older version, but both absolutely stunners.

The older dial looks more sporty and perhaps “stronger”. The glidelock would almost be a must for this type of strap for me. Tough call as a gold bracelet would be THE way to go at this level for me.

Both are great / beautiful.
I was “waitlisted” for the 116518, I guess now transferred to the 126518. I like the black outline of the hour markers, on the 11. I slightly prefer the darker gold dial of the 11, versus the lighter gold dial of the 12. I love the Glidelock dial I have on some other watches I own … but I am lucky in that the OysterFlex bracelet (non Glidelock) fits me perfectly, on another Daytona I own. If I am offered the 12 from the AD, I would gladly accept it. If I have to go Grey to get this watch, I think I would choose the 11. |

I would get the 11 on the grey marker as they are about 10k cheaper. The glide lock for me is a game changer, it’s not worth 10k though. Unless it was my only watch and I was to daily it as a one and done then I would get the new version no matter the cost. The glide lock should be on all Rolexes that have a clasp with an easy link.
