Rolex Sightseeing in Bangkok

I'll be in Bangkok next week and I was wondering if any good places to see new Rolex's but also any recommended used sellers?

If I'm not mistaken, Siam Swiss at Siam Square soi 5 is the first dealer in Thailand. I went there a few months earlier, the place is rather old and smaller than typical Rolex AD.

There's one AD at Siam Paragon. One at Gaysorn Plaza (not sure if it was an AD), and several grey dealers at Central World.

From what several ADs told me, MSRP for IIc there is about US$8000, and for US$7000 that several shops offered me was considered a bargain.

More about Rolex in Thailand here :

Enjoy the food , the sightseeing and all else available . I would stick with official Rolex AD's or be really sure where you are buying . A guy here at the golf club came back last year with a "bargain' GMT and DJ for his wife at aprox _30 % spanish retail price . Both excellent fakes , boxes ,papers and tags ;The works!

First week of Oct09, i happenned to visit Chatuchak flea market (JJ market). I visit one shop which sell used rolex in the main entrance (gate 1), they have regular shop near pratunam plaza.
In the other stall in JJ that i visit by chance . I saw a 1675 GMT SS year 1970's (no box & Paper) acrylic glass in good condition. The seller offers me THB135,000, unfortunately i can not find my way to the shop again when i would like to bargain more. Anyway thanks to Don for your info.

and whatever you miss, I can get later when I am there this December.
The "ROLEX Circus' (fakes) is down on Patpong Road where the nudy bars are off of Silom Road.

The real stuff is at World Trade Center.
The ROLEX main AD is at Radjamri Arcade just south of The Indra Hotel.

Dont eat all the "Somtum" (Papaya Salad) !

And stay off of the three wheeled taxis, they're dangerous !
Or live dangerously

Thanks,
Randy

That is scary. I have also seen some crazy things on pick up trucks on the motorway out there, ie: one guy snoozing on a pile of chairs precariously balanced on the back of the truck on the motorway, or a complete family of 15 one one scooter, etc.

I love Thailand - but would never buy a high value item out there, especially a Rolex.

I went to Thailand this past summer to visit family. I don't know about the used market over there but the 2 AD's I went to over there wouldn't budge on a SS GMTIIC. Was offered 15% off TT Sub's all day without trying. Ended up buying here on TRF. I don't think you can find a better deal than here but if you do, please let us know. Do not, and I repeat, do not do buy from anyone that is not an AD. And don't forget that as a foreigner, you can claim VAT, which is like taking 7% off but you'll get it back in Baht, not USD. So when you buy, don't forget to tell them to fill out the VAT claim form for you AND be sure you have your passport with you. Anything over 2,000 Baht qualifies. There's a kinda funny name we call fake Rolexes, "lo-lex". "Lo" means dozen as in sold by the dozen. OK, maybe it's not that funny.

I will be in Bangkok in a couple of weeks.

I would never buy any Rolex in Thailand other than from an AD. There are too many scams and fakes over there - play safe and don't be tempted by any "bargains".

And if you hear the words "special for you".....run a mile

Enjoy... great spot..beautiful people. And, I would say you're probably safer buying from TRF or from an authorised AD over there. Peace of mind is more important!! Post pics when you're back

As others have said, buy from an AD. Too many scams aimed at tourists there. Enjoy the food, the kind people and the culture, but buy from a known and trusted source.

Great pictures Randy - so evocative. I can't wait to get out there in a few weeks.

First stop - the rooftop restaurant on top of Bayoke II. Yes, I know its a tourist trap, but I love the views up there.

I have just got back from Bangkok & checked out a few second hand dealers on the 3rd floor of the Central World shopping centre (not far from the Siam paragon shopping centre). They had a few subs & GMT's for sale however almost none of the watches had any boxes or papers & it was difficult to get a straight answer as to when they were last serviced etc. Apart from this they were almost all overpriced & often being sold by people that had limited if any Rolex knowledge.

There are also a few second hand dealers on the 3rd fl of the MBK (Mar Boo Krong) building. This is also the level where they sell the fake watches. The fake market has really 'exploded' in Bangkok - a few years ago it was a bit 'under the counter' however now there are copies of almost all high end watches. I did examine a copy of the new Rolex GMT II that was selling for about $170US & it was a very good attempt.

I didn't bother checking out the AD's in Bangkok as I don't think they are able to 'move' much on their prices.

However, having recently joined this forum and after checking out the watches and reading the positive seller feedback, I would echo the posts of others and buy here. I wouldn't even waste my time looking for Rolex's in Bangkok - there are plenty of other things to do!

Agreed. ROLEX in Bangkok is more of a spectacle than a serious shopping experience. And yes, it is a pretty sketchy at best that the very fact of shops not providing full disclosure is a serious flag and shuld not be taken lightly.
Its more entertainment than a place to find a deal...
Oh but the food, mama mia !
