Tracing the birth of my 2009 Submariner
Is there anyway to find the origins of the basic parts to my watch (both raw materials and manufactured)?

Nope, not really...
Rolex intentionally makes if difficult to nail anything down.. Movements are assembled from random parts from supply, sent off for COSC testing, then stored until needed... the movement could be quite old before it ever sees the inside of a case.. Also, all the charts and guesses that we all make are probably not very close to actuals........ they only give us an estimate of when something first appeared on the market (or was first reported on a forum, which makes up only a fraction of actual purchases worldwide) ........... Rolex manufacturing could easily be 6 months or a year or more ahead of marketing, packaging and shipping....

They used to buy dials, but bought up the dial-makers; now make their own hairsprings in-house too... It's tough to come up with something that they don't manufacture.. They even bought Burgeon Watch tools a few years back to ensure that the quality of the tools used in the manufacture and service departments were up to the quality they wanted..

Did not know that; you are a mind of information Larry. Do they still own Bergeon?
