Explorer 1 or panerai
First watch as a daily, I'm going to make myself crazy...hairdresser.
Explorer 1 Or Panerai 392 or 510 or 560 I feel in love with the panerai brand today. I love the weight and size 42 or 44mm work perfect for me Any thoughts, my only concern is the size while shampooing, etc...and the leather band which I love but what happens when it gets wet... Exp 1 dealer offering to me new at 5750. Seems like a no brainier...although that could go to panerai... Also panerai watches are numbered which I think is amazing. Exp 1 prob 50,000 made vs 1500 or 3000 with the panerai I choose... I hate decisions help... |

Go with the brand you love, these are luxury items so there is no wrong answer.
If it makes you feel good knowing you have a very limited watch rather than the most cliché luxury brand like a Rolex, then go with the Panerai. The leather straps are just fine when wet, but you could always get a rubber strap from panerai, these were standard on most luminor models. personally, I think my Panerai has a lot more personality than a boring explorer....just my opinion of course, but I'm the one wearing the watch. |

I would go EXP, but if you really like bigger watches, then the Panerai sounds more to your liking. Go with what you like, not what we say.

I think you must go and try them on. Both are great, I have both brands but they wear, look, feel, and act completely different on the wrist. Both are amazing and will be heirloom quality pieces. The main thing comes down to you and your comfort, style, overall function and purpose that the watch will serve you. You truly cant go wrong with either.

Explorer 1 but if you like Panerai, which is quite opposite of Exp 1, then its hard to get it out. You might flip it eventually. Among PAMs, try this PAM328 special edition on bracelet with date and perfect daily wear.

x2 regarding your concerns at work, i wouldn't want to get leather wet or soapy on a regular basis, so, i would switch to rubber or canvas for work and then to leather for other occassions. straps are a huge part of the pleasure of panerai ownership (beyond the design of the watch itself). as for which one, if you are not sure, go for a pre-owned 111/000/005 and you'll be sure to not lose any money if you flip. for the new 8-day bettarini case models, i prefer the Ti (562, 564) over the SS (510, 560). as for the 392 (a 1950s case model like the 312/320/328), i find it a bit bulky, plus, as for the 392 being 42mm, i think a luminor looks best at 44+. |

If it was the Explorer I, i'd go with the Panerai.... very versatile... can be dressed up or down depending on the strap... Strong wrist presence

These two watches are so incredibly different...but my explorer 1 rarely leaves my wrist as it's just so damn versatile and easy to wear.
