Horses for course really and both 5 and 6 digit references are great watches.
I bought the 42 about 4 or 5 years ago when a discount was still possible! Always felt it was a bit big and it went. Two years ago I bought the polar 16570 and paid £1100 more than i paid for the brand new 216570! But I so much prefer the old 40mm jobie. Not better but preferable. I imagine both will continue to hold their money well. |

Keep talking them up guys :-)
I bought this new in 1994 because I really liked the white dial. I never realised everybody else in the world hated them :-) although I still feel it's too small. Before I bought it I requested Rolex swap out the bracelet because I preferred it. At that point it was the only one in the world according to Rolex UK as they had to check with Rolex to see if it could be done. Apparently the case had to be machined to accept the Jubilee . However they never charged me any extra. Still have the original box and invoice. |

Still room to grow imo, when these were $3.5k, what 16710's were $4.5k?
Look at the price difference between the two now. What else are you going to buy with a white dial in the sport line... a $30k 116520 or a milguass. The 40mm 5 digit case was and is the best case Rolex ever made imo. I'd take mint 5 digit over a 6 any day of the week
