I agree. Not working at all.

If it was on a black nato with red or white stripe then I imagine that would work nicely. Kudos to you for giving it a try.

It is sacrilegious to put an Omega NATO on a Rolex. Personally, not a fan of double pass NATO strap. But I do like the idea of the white RubberB strap. Was thinking of getting one for myself a while back.

Not a fan of Rolex on nato strap in general and I think I would look better on a black one. As you say the black 116500 is a strap monster and I have tried a few combinations but to be honest nothing is better than the Rolex metal bracelet

Not a fan of the NATO look on the modern Daytona-C. The NATO look works best for me with vintage watches or watches created to be worn with the NATO. The Bund strap on Paul Newman's Daytona works because of the watch, the era and who he was. Nothing works better than the bracelet on Rolex watches. Superior engineering, fit, finish and look.

There is only one Paul Newman. If he resurrects himself and wears a NATO then fine.

Never seen a Daytona on a NATO … until now

Well if you didn’t like the NATO (which I agree is the vast majority of comments) or you disliked the bund that PLN wore - then you won’t like this one either.

However, the NYT just had a story about it that has another PLN connection. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/10/f...n-auction.html

Now I wished I had said something complementary in the paddock when he almost nerfed me in 2005 at a Road Atlanta National Race…maybe I’d have a Daytona from PLN to auction, too! Unfortunately, a friend nerfed him later in the race in Turn 1, so that wasn’t ever going to happen…

In case you wanted to see the pre-auction road show at a city near you (or wish to register) here’s the Sotheby’s link just in case you can’t open the NYT paywall. https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auct...tant-watches-3

Me? I‘ve had Daytona’s on the OEM leather deployant clasp strap and an aftermarket OF rubber. Neither were as versatile as those I’ve had on the Oyster bracelet - especially for a safe, secure support for the head.

Some more photos of that 1979 LSR attempt…

I'm not averse to a Nato with a Daytona but on that model it has to be plain black.

There’s a valid reason why you don’t see natos and rubber straps on Daytonas. They don’t look good.
