Pre owned prices are down at the moment in the uk. BNIB Deepsea on another forum is struggling to sell at £6250.

OK the Daytona is a nice watch but like I mentioned before, I have had 2 before that I worn. I am not particularly bothered whether I wear the Daytona or my other watch. There is no point in taking off all the plastics to wear on occasions. If I need to sell it I reckon it probably get more if it was unworn and also if I hand it down then it would nice for the receiver to have a new watch. The watch was the last ones with the hologram sticker on the back.

Why did you buy it in the first place if you're not going to wear it? If it's for the investment, modern day Rolex's aren't an good investment esp if they sit unworn and unused .... and if you're going to hand it down to your children in 20-30 years time, why ask the question on it's worth now?

Thank you! Could not have said it better myself. I have owned Rolex watches for 35 years. I bought them because I could and I loved wearing them. Those that buy them for resale only may as well play the lottery.

It may have stickers, but sorry to say your watch isn't new. In fact, being 5 years old your watch is due for its first service soon and would have to be priced accordingly.

The RRP includes 20% VAT. Who wants to pay tax on a second hand watch that needs a service?

I wouldnt buy a daytona as an investment piece these days, or really any other rolex...Just because I like them and want to enjoy them.

Having said that, anyone know what the best investment time pieces are these days? or singe best investment watch? Im guessing something in the PP range?

dealers are asking around the 7960 figure and higher might I add, but that's not necessarily what they are achieving and I know you can get some examples down around the £6k figure but they won't have sticker on.

So, somewhere between the £6 and £7k mark private might be right, but try to trade that beauty in and I bet you are shocked at what the dealers will give you.
Quite right. I wanted to sell a Rolex Sub. 16610 serial V bought from an AD a Rolex warranty still had until January 2013 and as they offered me is $ 4,500 dollars. Eventually I sold it to a friend for $ 4800. With prices beware. The real value is what you can get not what is published around ...

I've posted AD visit reports on TRF and indicated various ADs had SS Daytonas in stock (including one AD who indicated he would discount) and no one seemed to be interested enough to comment.

So my take-away is that these have become easy enough to get at an AD that the thrill is gone at finding one.

Here in Gothenburg the AD will give a discount on a Daytona. They have both dials in stock and had them for at least 6 months.

Sweden is not really participating in the economy crise so it´s not the lack of financial strength. It´s just not a sought after piece here any more.

For some reason, the picture below just brought up the memory from the trip to Hong Kong... During the visit, I noticed all of my best friend's body guards wears SS Daytona !?!

Looked for some time at UK Daytona's but all were too much, got me a Z series from here on TRF for £5800 delivered (US to UK), they're certainly not hard to find any more

Great problem to have mate. The Rolex Daytona has held its value over the years very strong. The going rate in the US is about $10,000 to $11,000 retail.
good luck.
