I wouldn't sell the 1680.
The SDC does pack a lot of punch though. Enjoy your time trying the three options and see which is the must have.

Strong case for the EXP since you already have a sub...though, it's hard to beat a sub in an on the wrist comparison...just go with your gut when you get there...you'll know.

And congrats on such a great wife! Wow.

Thanks everyone for your input so far. I DO own a vintage 1680 Sub now.

114060 - PROS: More "technology" than the 214270, more wrist presence, sporty, yet a little dressy with ceramic and gloss dial. Would also allow me to not wear my vintage Sub as much.
CONS: A third dive watch, not quite as versatile as the 214270, not sure about the lugs

214270 - PROS: Unlike anything else I have, under the radar, versatile, sporty, yet a little dressy with polish bezel and WG numbers.
CONS: Less "tech" than the 114060, smaller, less wrist presence.

Well, we're off to the AD in a few hours. I'm going to try all three options on, but the 114060 vs 214270 is a little more realistic.

Explorer if I were you Brad. With your 1680 and your Omegas you need something like the Exp in your collection. By the way, I will be in your neck of the woods mid April. I will pm you and we can get together for a drink.

I'd go with the GMTIIc. You'd already have 2 divers and a chrono so a GMT would round things out. The LN is close to perfect IMHO.

If I already had a Sub, I'd go for something else. I know some people have multiple subs though. I'd prefer to have a more versatile collection. What about a DJII? Definitely going to the AD should help you when they're all staring you in the face. My suggestion, go to the AD, snap pics on your wrist, take your lovely wife to lunch and think it over before going back in to the AD. Good luck!

After much debating, and a longing for a 39mm Explorer I I didn't buy one. Nope, after trying it on one last time along side a 114060, and 116600 I decided it wasn't for me. The simplicity that had drawn me in for so long ended up making me doubt it's longevity in my collection.

The 116600 was an amazing watch, and if I had the funds without having to sell other pieces, namely my 1680, to get it I would have.

So, that means the winner was the 114060 Submariner!

P.S. My awesome wife also got a Michele she's wanted for a while. She loves her Micheles! We've looked at Omegas, Rolexes, Channel, Dior, David Yurman, and she always comes back to Michele. Hey, she knows what she likes!
